They pretty much had to remake it for America. In the Japanese version, Mufasa didn't die from falling off a cliff - he died from a horrible hyena-gang bukkake.

Hahaha, known that for years. Lion King was such a massive ripoff, they didn't even try to hide it.

The original fast and furious was loosely based off a movie called No mans land.

lol like all the j-horrors they americanized? i wonder why they always have to use a asian actor/actress after remaking it, paying homage?

Ringu, grudge, dark water, pulse, they are also plans to do a Battle Royale/Infection american remake (hopefully it wont be a ), then the chinese remake of Internal affairs, and some of you thought The departed was an original movie the only really good american remake, but it really shows you what a big budget can do to for a film.

    Not rip off ..

I think Disney bought the license from japan, and re do it??

Just like .. dragon ball now??

Since I first saw lion King .. no doubt, it is the disney version of the "White Lion" .... Disney never said it is original .. right??

Of course, Kimba the WHITE LION is so much more cutier .. I watched it a lots and loved it so much when I was kid .. lol

Dr. Osamu Tezuka is the best comic author in history.. his nickname is "god of Comic" over 700 comic! ( I think I hv only 150 .. )

And Dr. Osamu Tezuka Museum is a MUST GO if anyone every goes to Japan!

No, there were evidence that they want to license it before release of Lion King. But end up it didn't and rename the movie from Jungle King to Lion King.

And all those J movies and internal affair remakes are properly licensed. All the original creators and license holders got paid.
