    Default February Photo Theme

Let's get the ball rolling this month with the theme, since we're a few days short as it is.

    My suggestion: Astrological

I liked last month's suggestion of "Long exposure", though Astrological could be fun. Star trails galore!

I think the 800 pixel limitation thing should be removed. I think you take away from a lot of photos displaying them at such a small resolution.

Point & Shoot owners are even better then 800 pixels....LOL

I don't think anyone here has bandwidth issues.

Seriously, I don't even think you can buy a monitor these days that displays that low...LOL

Maybe if you photographed something other than panorama's of downtown calgary, it wouldn't be an issue for you.

Regardless, 800pixels is a joke. Its like going from a 1080P HD 58" LCD to a 27" analog boob tube.

800 pixels is fine. We're not out to see who can make the best background pics lol. You can capture everything you need with 800 pixels, plus it allows guys with P&S to enter the contest too. It takes equipment (to a degree) out of the equation.

I'm gonna enter a few months with a p&s just for fun haha.

With the way the votes are going, I'm definately not winning 3 in a row . But another streak may emerge out of all this... haha.

Just as a thought, long exposure will likely end up with similar entries to 'blur'...

Alternatively, I suppose I'm curious how people plan to make a long exposure shot that looks like a long exposure that doesn't incorporate blur in some way... basically, blur/motion indicates the passage of time which is normally the distinguishing characteristic of long exposure shots, no?

Doesn't have to be any blur in long exposure shots. I'd like to see how one would take this pic without long exposure .

Nice photo, that looks very similar to the south east part of Hawaii on the way to Hanauma Bay.

Would love to see a higher resolution shot as well, to appreciate all the detail.
