    Default Calgary, need your help..

I pretty much have to come up with a proposal for my father on why going to U of C and moving to Calgary would be a good idea. My major is Marketing Management and I need to know about growth trends and major companies in the area that show it to be a place more beneficial than say... Indianapolis, Indiana.

I've covered Toronto as I've spent time there (my ex fiance from Sarnia, ON went to uni. there) but have only been in Calgary briefly.

    TIA!

    Why Calgary?

There are many better school than UC. People go to UC usually because of proximity and not for quality.

I like Calgary. The people you consider shit are FAR from the bottom of the barrel here. U of C because it gets my foot in the door of the region.

It's the same thing here. People go to Ball State for proximity instead of quality and the same goes for Purdue (unless you want to do engineering) and IU (unless you want to go to a great medical school). Indiana University used to have a great business school, but they haven't turned out shit for a long time.

Hell, I could expound on my reasons for wanting to move up to Canada (without a girlfriend clause) for hours, but in short... Anything the US does, I've seen Canadians do it better.

    Depends on the school/area...

Not uofc, but I remember Maxim mag had Mt Royal ranked in the top 10 N.A schools for hot girls. UofC isn't as good, but this semester is MUCH better than usual, I think all the hot MRC chicks finally made it to the UofC.

OP. Calgary does have a lot of big companies, probably good opportunities in co-op programs, but as far as the campus itself goes, it isn't great.

which has a much better university than Calgary despite being a shithole of a city. The only real thing U of C has going for it is a foot in the door for oil companies located here. Otherwise, I'd be looking at going to a better school. After all, you are looking for a good education, and not just a "nice city to live in", right?

It's not the weirdos that do the anal raping here.....it's the cost of living that does these days.

Calgary is so much like an iphone: iCalgary - There's a bylaw for that.

I'll compromise a bit of column A for a bit of column B. I could go to Notre Dame, but South Bend is a shit hole and has no nearby businesses worth anything unless you drive 90km to Chicago.

Calgary is the only place left I have to account for. The other universities I've applied to are:

    McGill (Montreal)
    Ryerson (Toronto)
University of Toronto: Mississauga (Greater Toronto Area)
    U of C

    University of Lethbridge

Yeah it's a shitty town, but good management school. Think the University on the whole is rated 8th in Canada. Tiny class size (40 or below, almost feels like high school again) and pretty good profs. My mom works for Conaco Philips and she says that her company would much rather higher graduates from UofL over UofC.

Well the difference is that most UofC Business grads can spell Conoco Phillips and hire.

Nothing horribly wrong with Calgary, but I cannot in good faith recommend the UofC itself.
