    Default SRS System

Hey, anybody familiar on how to disbale the driver side airbag on a 2002 Honda Civic without the SRS light constantly being on. I want to replace the wheel but last time I took it out I ended up having to get honda to reset the system (a whole 5 mins) and costing me $60.

Any help here would be appreciated.

haha man u guys should do some research before making posts. When you reconnect the battery, the diagnostics is STILL going to detect that the airbags are gone. So the light will STILL stay on. If you want that light off, unscrew the bulb in the cluster.

Yah the only way to fix it without chancing any damage, is to bring it into a shop so they can over ride the system, Rage 2 's idea works, take out the fuse/relay too

Is it legal to do it yourself?? I heard somewhere you need a waiver from the government to remove your airbags.. Because I've always wanted to disable my driver and passenger airbags.. Crashing the car is one thing.. But getting punched again by an airbag isnt cool...

In the US, you can obtain a waiver. In Canada, I don't think it's available. Disabling airbags may possibly void your insurance if you get in an accident. Do a search, it was discussed extensively (and intensely).

As much as I hate getting punched in the face with an airbag, I leave mine on.

You "can" put a resistor in the srs plug to disable the light (3 ohm I think....). But that may not be a good idea 'cause if you get in a crash you may get sue(by passenger?) for tempering with the system. I just left my light on... And again taking out the airbag is a whole lot of risk with the insurance company, I am more worry about my insurance then getting my face punched.
