Damn, I'll have to take this out for a spin.

I've absolutely hated every hybrid I've driven, there's no "feel" whatsoever. Plus the regenerative braking drives me bat-shit insane.

disappointed in the mileage numbers a bit here and we are comparing a 2010 car to current offerings that will probably be refined quite a bit by the time the new models come out.

Hate to say it but they will probably be just a slight bit behind again when the new Camry and Altima come out. I am sure the new Insight and Prius will also be much much better than previous versions.

One thing I do like though is the description given to avoid vibration upon restarting the gas engine and how the computer makes the engine's crank stop in one specific spot so it's ready to optimaly fire again.

New Prius is rated for 50mpg but 60mpg in recent tests

New Insight is rated for 44mpg but 60-70mpg in media test drives

While Fusion is heavier and all, and it's 41mpg is great but I'm sure that will be the norm for hybrid mid size sedans.

The Toyota Prius crowd will protest. Prius is lower-priced, has about the same room inside, has a handy hatchback configuration, gets better mileage — and most of those attributes could improve when the 2010 Prius goes on sale in a few months — so how could Fusion be the best hybrid?

Simple. Fusion drives better. A car is, after all, a driving machine. Brownie points for saving somewhat more fuel or offering a cargo-friendly hatchback, but driving feel is most important.
So basically, the Fusion isn't a better as a hybrid vs the Prius, it's a better car overall. Kind of an odd comparison, I think a Camry Hybrid would've been a more apples to apples comparison.

I would say that it is just a US national newspaper trying to find a way to promote a US Company. I think there will be a lot of that in the coming year or two.

Good point - don't get me wrong, I like the redesigned Fusion. I'd take it over the Prius as well. USA Today is a newspaper - I'd take their reviews with a grain of salt too.

When Motortrend picked the GTR as their COTY, you should've seen the hatemail they posted on their site. The vast majority of them accused MT rooting for foreign brands and the reason for the decrease in Detroit 3 sales

Honda Insight is basically as good as a Prius. But the Insight costs less than a Prius.

I have a feeling that article was "sponsored". In fact, the Prius and Fusion are really difference class. They should be comparing a Camry Hybrid to the Fusion. Then see who wins. Though I do admit, the Fusion is a nice looking car, and it's a car that has totally made me look at Ford very differently (but I still wouldn't buy one hahaha).
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
