That engine spun a rod bearing so I decided to swap in a newer motor with a new turbo setup...

Drove the car for a bit...Then winter came and I got something a little more suited for the snow. Last winter I mostly worked on the body..sanded it all down and primerd it.

    Got a kit for it...

Got a 5 point cageand painted the back half of the interior black...

Got the car all primerd and got some wheels for it..This is what it looked like before I parked it this winter...

Now it's in peices again....waiting on parts and install..

Here is a sneek preview of how low the car will be next year...Gonna be hard to keep the kit in one peice

Thanks man, No I baught a new Turbo. Very similar...Just a little bigger and has a polished compressor housing, Should look good. That old turbo did last me all summer though haha.

I'm probably painting it black...but I'm still stuck on white or blue too..So we'll see.

    Shit..Got a little problem...

I bolted up the new turbo to my mani today, Went to bolt it onto the car and I cant get the intake onto the compressor side

The CAS is right in the way, If I manage to get a coupler on the compressor side, It just hits the CAS.

would a 45 degree coupler work? Its pretty damn tight...I dunno what else I can use...

You could try sectioning a 90 degree coupler, so you can get it to radius really sharply onwards and toward that gay fuse box.

Are you running a cold air or a ram?

But then it would have to stick out pretty far off the compressor, Also the coupler would hit the CAS. I guess it's a RAM intake? Look at the above engine bay pic...

Yeah that is cold air. If you still have that metal radius I assume you are still running a maf n: so you need that sensor.

Anyways as long as you still have that pipe, dent it to clear the cas. Either that or you get a silicone coupler and do as I said and section a 90 degree elbo so that you cut it down purely to the radius you need so that it clears it.

Thing is for some reason this turbo sits like forward more...

When I get a coupler onto the turbo, Its so creased from hitting the CAS that I cant get the intake on it, So denting the intake wouldnt work.

Isnt 90 degress a little to much of a bend? I thought a 45 would do it, But those couplers start at like 60 bucks, a 3" one wont be cheap and I cant return it after it's out of the package.

section = cut. Go to princess auto and pick up some 12$ ones.

I told you to get a 90 degree elbow because they have a much tighter radius then a 45, so the chance of you being able to cut a section tight enough to clear the CAS is much higher, then with a 45 degree elbow.

Second, why is your turbo sitting so far forward? didnt you know the turbo would be longer and thusly sit closer to the front of the engine?

Third, if you bolted it straight to the manifold, and realised that it was going to hit, why didnt you mod/remake your manifold?

Well, another thing I have seen is guys will use a mesh, or something similar to keep small rocks and stuff out of the turbo...Just an idea...I mean not alot you can do with that small of a working space

He cant do that. He is running a MAF. he needs air to pass over the sensor.

    Yea gotta run the MAF.

Anyways I figured it out haha, Played around with it a bit longer and switched a couple couplers around, Now it fits...But the intake does hit the CAS...Should I be worried about that? I Doubt it....

Now I just need to figure a way to rig up to hot pipe to the compressor...

Well any contact is not good. But Just put some electrical tape on the intake between it and the CAS so if it does rub then it would rub the rubber off it.

you could wrap some neoprene rubber wrap around it aka hi temp aircraft rubber wrap, sticks to itself like tape once it tightens, but +1^ contact isn't good especially regarding the crank angle sens. i would see about protecting that first than the IC piping cause a new one is about 350 iirc, CAS cover is about 100 and that piping, i'm guessing under 50$?

or i could just sell you back the engine dampener you sold me and you can rig something up

Yea I'm gonna find something to rig up so it dosent rub on it too bad.

Haha and thats you who baught the engine dampner? That was quite a while ago haha and I couldnt use that, It gets in the way of the turbo, Reason I sold it in the first place haha.
