Default Battery Tender vs Battery Charger

The battery in my bike is pretty much dead, I read that in order for the battery to recharge it needs to move. It is winter right now so I don't think I can really move the bike anywhere.

I couldn't find any product named "battery tender" on the canadiantire website, but I see battery charger. I heard battery charger can be harmful for the battery? due to being over charged? and battery tender doesn't over charge the battery.

    Is this correct?

What kind of winterizing did you do? I pull my battery for the winter and put it on a float charger once a month.

I'm using this float charger, it is essentially a tender: charger

Some people think that leaving a regular battery charger on a battery for extended periods of time can cause it the overcharge (even if it's automatic). If that's true or not I don't really know. I have a battery tender that I use for my sea-doo and summer car batteries over the winters... seems to keep them in good shape.

I bought mine from "AND batteries" it's on blackfoot trail close to blackfoot motorsports. I imagine if you called some bike shops they might sell some too. I bought the junior version, set me back about $50.

Another option might be to just put a charger on it every few weeks or once a month for a few hours at a time.

Float charger is best for vehicles in storage. They only charge when the battery needs it as opposed to the "automatic" ones the change the amperage but never completely stop charging and will boil a battery dry (been there, done that). Crappy does not have a float charger for motorcycles, theirs are too high amperage. Go to a motorcycle dealer and get a motorcycle specific one. I picked mine up at Blackfoot for under $50.

    Sweet,

I got it working, I used a charger that has a 2 amp and 6 amp option. So I can use trickle charge or charge it with 6 amp. Thanks a lot for the help!
