I went through the crowsnest pass last time I went, there is that short cut that goes over that high mountain pass, the highway name escapes me, it took about an hour off the drive, but there was snow at the top, even in may, so be aware of that...Check Mapquest or yahoo..Maxt

It's a bit faster south thru Longview to #3, but a much more interesting drive thru the park on #1. Your call, but if you go the park way, follow the signs to Radium and don't go all the way to Golden.
