I call it a flicker... Never heard converter till I went to ontario.
I've never heard of anybody calling it a converter. Where did you get this slang from?
I've heard older people call it... back in the day when the converter box sat on top of the tv.
Old East Indian parents will also call it a converter...So I suppose it's also a British thing then as well...
...@therealarifjina...
It stems from when all TV's only had the channels from 1-13. With the old knob that one had to turn to change channels.
Eventually TV's came with more channels, and the cable comapnies offered them, so old analog TV's had to have a converter box that allowed one to have like 100 channels.
Whoever says "Converter" is an old school bayman.
I grew up having it called a "Flink" but I had a converter for my old tv when I was 12 haha.
Definately not a British thing, we call it a Remote. Or as my mum has an failing brain, "where's the thingy" lolOriginally posted by EK 2.0

"clicker" is very american, didn't hear that till I moved here. Thought it was kind of stupid.
Converter?
Clicker is fucking RETARDED. Converter is an east coast thing...heard it in Quebec growing up....
I call it the 'changer' ?? My parents call it the converter....
when i worked at star choice i heard the remote being called many things.
clicker
flicker
converter
thingy
remote
R mote
changer
i noticed it was usually the elder people that called it anything but a remote
hahaha this is a funny thread... interesting though cuz my family uses "converter" but we are from out east originally so maybe thats why. My friends would always look at me weird when id say pass the converter lol. I think it sounds a lot better than "clicker"
My whole family has called it a 'zapper'. Although the past 5 years or so, we've all been changing to just 'remote'.
I have a group of friends who call it the penis... Started off as a joke, but now its second nature and a little startling if you don't know what they're talking about.
Clicker makes more sense than ConverterOriginally posted by ZorroAMG

damn newphies!!!
My complaint is what are you "converting"?
It's not a proper use of the term 'convert'.
control
my parents call it that a lot.
"where's the control?"
You guy's do realize quebec and ontario aren't on the east coast right? Damn calgary and saskatoon on the west coast
I vote flicker.
