    Default T-Top or Targa Top

Im Planning on gettin an rsx and its a hardtop from the states .. does not come with a sunroof so i want to chop off the top, i know it can effect structural integrity but i dont plan on drving it that hard, i want either a T Top or a Targa Top which Ever is cheaper , is there anywhere in calgary where i can get this done and how much would it cost É

The states never sold any rsx's without sunroofs from my understanding. The only rsx's without one are the base models that were sold in Canada from 02-04, and actually type r's. Anyways, its nice that your thinking outside the box, but seriously, all said and done, there will be nothing cheap about it. Also, it does not matter how fast/hard you drive it cause accidents are unpredictable and you'll have structurally weakened the car by chopping it up.

I'd guess insurance might have something to say about
re-engineering a car without an engineer present.

If you get seriously injured - don't expect coverage.

Why not buy a factory-made targa or t-top car? Is the RSX really THAT incredible?

I found a car , its from the states and its got no sunroof and it is a type S .. its one of the oddest Dam things iv ever seen

There is no such thing as a sunroof-less type s. whoever is selling this is lying or your interpreting the information wrong. Can you provide a link to the car?

    1. It's going to cost way more than $1500, probably closer to $5000 after cutting the roof, modifying the roof liner, rolling the edges and insulating it from rain.

    2. The car is either a base model from Canada or they swapped in a Type R roof which I've seen people do. It saves weight when you remove the sunroof. In that case, the roof's probably fucked already and that's why he's ditching it.

ok so the biggest problem with doing this is yoiur car is it's a unibody construction if you cut the roof the doors wont open after a block of driving cuase the body will bend right after the first cut is made. with that said you could do it on an s-10 or similar becuase it has a frame to support the body from buckleing(sp?) under stress and keep in mind the price as said beforewill be well into the thousands if not tens of thounsands

wish you all the luck if you still want to do it might look kinda kool

The first step you should do is put in a 6 or 8 point roll cage/bar to get the stregth needed, I have cut a targa out of a car before just for fun in a car I was going to junk, when you rocked the car side to side it twisted noticably

after that cage is in Add some subframe conectors from front to rear then your car will be able to have a targa cut out.

the car is not strong enough to cut out a t or targa without those things done, the cage and subframe conectors will cost oyu about $1000 or so.

then the roof section can be cut out, but then expect to pay another $5000 to have it done in a way that will not leak and will fit properly.

Well you can touch up and blend in like you would do for a minor body repair for a fender or bumper ...or just re-paint the roof section

How did you figure your budget as $1000-$1500 LOL

It costs $1000-$1500 to do some minor body modification, you're trying to cut your fucking roof off lol.

Get an S2000 instead. Looks Nicer, Performs better, and you wont have to cut the top off
