Default So i found a phone.... what now

Yesterday i was leaving a pub after watching the flames game and found a blackberry in the parking lot.
I didnt expect it to work all covered in snow but sure enough it did. What is suspicious is that there is no sim card and the phone is basically new...no info in it.
In retrospect i should have maybe just left it in the parking lot??? then the owner would have had a better chance to find it.
Anyways i didnt, i picked it up and now have a what i am guessing to be a curve for the rogers network.

If i bring this to rogers will they be able to find the proper owner? I do not want to take it to them if they are just going to take it and re sell it to someone...i would rather take it back to the parking lot than do that.

If anyone can shed some insight on the best way to get this back to the owner it would be appreciated.... ive lost phones before and never had them returned. it really is a shitty feeling.

    Thanks in advance...

I really don't know the answer, but personally I'd rather keep it then return it to a parking lot where someone else is going to find it and keep it themselves. Besides - if the person who lost it was looking for it, they would have already looked in the parking lot and are not likely to do so again.

Good on you for your honesty!

Instead of bringing it to Rogers, I'd contact them and ask them via the phone if they can figure out who it belongs to. That way, they won't snatch it from your hands...

It might be too late now, but I would've went back into the pub and left them my contact number in case somebody asked about it.

    yea good idea....
I honestly feel like every vehicle that drives by my window is a cop looking for me.
My intentions were not to "steal" even though thats what it may be considered now....
I would just rather see someone else steal it and sell it or better yet return it to the owner. Just not the cell phone company.

There is a good chance it was not from the pub... the pub is in a strip mall with several other stores and where we had parked was somewhat away from the pub.

I'm not sure if Rogers records serial #'s on the phones they distribute... but you can always try...

If you really want to find the owner, print out a pic of the phone or something and say you found it and put it on a pole or something. Not sure if thats legal
and you might want to put, bring receipt or something

yea ill give it a shot later on....I know there are some cell reps on beyond so im hoping the can chime in.
So BB Curve for $20 anyone... JK

Everyone loses a phone now and then and it is almost as bad as losing your wallet. Going to fork out however much this thing is worth on a non contract price is not going to be cheap.

I know it sucks losing your phone but it seems there isn't much you can do. Post some stuff on craigslist, call the pub and some stores letting them know you found some type of phone and wait....

rogers/fido won't help you with this. Can you imagine if you could call them up, tell them you have this serial number of a phone and want to know who owns it? Yeah right.

After a month I'd say finders keepers.

Nevermind, I see you said no info in it... I was gonna say put a SIM card in it and see if there are any contacts saved.
I know you don't smoke weed. I know this. But I'm gonna git you high today. 'cause it's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do!

Who carries a phone around that doesn't have a SIM, or any contacts entered?

    Weird...

thats what was suspicious about the situation....and a friend of myne on rogers says that even if he takes his sim card out his info is still stored on the phone. This phone has nothing, literally the rogers backround

^^ Must be new. Or a Dealer.

If there's no contacts on it, it is fair game-you could give it to the police but doubt he'll ask their lost and found for it

1 or 2 around the place you found it should do, not saying you should go post everywhere. But good luck on finding owner.
