Angry Since when. husband cannot pick up parcel for wife??

As usual .. we got a delivery notice from Canada post .. to pick up a small parcel. (eye cream, something like that for my wife, since we need to pay $12 for tax etc, so we need to go pick up)

This may be the 30th times I go pick up parcel for my wife there, (or the other way around)

So, after line up in the postal outlet, I showed that lady the delivery notice, then she asked me for photo ID.
The she asked " you are not Michelle, who are you? " ( how the hell could I be Michelle?? ) I said " I am her husband." she then said " No, you have to be Michelle in order to pick it up." I showed her my driver license again, showing the SAME address as on the delivery notice, and told her I come all the time to pick up parcel for her, she just kept saying NO .. then I asked her since when there is such a rule, husband canNOT pick up stuff for wife?

Her answer is "LONG TIME! ALWAYS HAS TO BE THE SAME PERSON TO PICK UP ANYTHING! "

Is it true ? last 4 years, no one ever told me that ...

    its just some postal outlets...
its gay they make their own rules.

i had a package come to my rents house and no one was home ,( rents were out of town on vacation )
i took the notice and picked it up
no probs, as i had the same addy on my drivers at that time.

when i had my addy changed .. something came in for wifey.. and i went and picked it up.
just depends on which location i guess.

i have had no probs on this.

I was told by the postal outlet by my house that as long as the address and last name on the driver's license is the same as the person the package is being delivered to, it should be okay.

Maybe you had some chick on a power trip that day?

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

x2, same address and last name, it's ok. 2 different outlets have let me do this.

It's probably liability purpose... even with the same address on your ID, how would they know if you were taking your brother/mom/dad/uncle's parcel without their consent.

To contribute to the thread, everytime I leave town, I photocopy my driver's license with a hand written note: "To Whom It May Concern, please allow so and so, my neighbour on the same street with the license# to pick up any parcels under my name, thank you"

Something to that effect, he's never had issues.

They have a policy that states they can ask for id. If you are going to an outlet that follows the policy, you gotta follow it. Some use common sense and will allow a person with the same address to pick up, but that can become a liability.

Hit or miss, dependent on the person behind the counter. One had the nerve to tell me that I need to have my name spelled right next time! I have never had such comment even when flying in/out of country and my name on ticket/passport don't 100% match. Jeez.

I can sorta understand the logic behind only allowing the person who it is addressed to picking up a parcel. There are privacy, liability issues, etc. The person behind the counter doesn't know that the addressee is cool with having someone else in their household receive their parcel.

I mean, would you want your mom picking your fleshlight up from the post office for you??

I used to be able to do it but not any more. Even with the same address.

I usually get around it by telling the recipient is 17 yr old and I'm the guardian and they usually let it go which save you another trip.

There must be some crack down recently and I actually appreciate what they are trying to do.

My wife went in to CP to get my parcel...they said no.She said she wouldn't be back. I went in 1 2/2 hour later and it had been shipped out already. I couldn't believe they would do that! They were willing to accept her response to not return but unwilling to accept her as authorized to pick it up? Dicks!!

something similar happened to me on Christmas Eve this year. I told clerk that the package was a Christmas present and I wasnt going to leave without it. she eventually gave it to me but it took some convincing.
