Auto value will give you a computer scan free if you have a check engine light on. If you just want a scan done otherwise just go to any mechanic shop.
97 grand prix......
I know I can go anywhere but I kind of don't feel like paying $100 for one if I can get one cheaper and by an honest mechanic. Anyone know of anyone?
Autovalue man!
your not going to get your car looked at for under $100, most shop rates are $100-150 an hour. and if its a grand prix its going to need intake gaskets,control arm bushings and a steering rack. i can tell you that befor even looking at the car. i work on alot of these animals.
Sorry to bump old post.. but I went to Auto Value the other day to check but they only have the ABD2 machine, anyone know where I can go to test my car with the ABD1 machine?

ABD1 -> OBD1 lol
All OBD1 scanners were manufacturer specific, OTC Genesis has special adapters and software to read OB1 codes, but that set up is like 6k, any shop that does out of province inspections will get you going.
Also most OBD1 cars have a method to pull codes using the check engine light or another type of prove out light, which then tells you the code depending on beeps or blinks. what kind of car do you have?
^95 Nissan maxima,
I meant to say OBD1 actually. Lol. The car is running fine and actually checked everything out with my mechanic and can't figure out why the light is on. Any way to get it checked out for cheap/free? Don't really want to spend $100 for it since we already checked everything. We think its probably one of the sensors.
