I was surfing around a while back and ran across a thread about a guy who was highly recommended for home reno's.
I basically want to put a bathroom downstairs as well as carpet the rest of the floor and up the stairs.

Probably Barmanjay. He gets a lot of recommendations on here.
He hasn't done any work for me, but he'll be honest with you and what you can expect vs. making promises he can't keep or stringing you along.
