    Default 1st Gen iPhone Help!

    Here's my situation:

I bought a 1st Gen iPhone from US about 1.5years ago, I had it "flashed" and unlocked/jailbroken to 1.1.4 firmware. After this was done I was urged not to run software updates when asked by itunes when plugged in. My idiot brother tried to run an update to 2.2 last night resulting in an error msg that reads some thing like "sim card is not supported, please try new sim card or original sim card that came with iphone". The phone itself is not functioning, it displays a 'USB cable' with an arrow to 'itunes' icon and thats it. I'm assuming its now locked again.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
How can I unlock/jailbreak again on my own?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Yeah it can easily be unlocked with software. I think you just run a software called "quickpwn"

^ Thanks but the above link is for Jailbreak to 2.1.1, I have a 1st Gen iphone which will not support that version of firmware. I believe I need 1.1.4.

I read through the first link but there are no specific instructions, it just says to restore ipone and then run quickpwn. However I cannot restore to original settings, it gives me an error msg reading "pairing file not found"

    Any other options for me?

You don't want to go back to 1.1.4, 1st Gen can run the newest firmware, which is probably what you have on your phone alreadyafter you accidentally upgraded the firmware. Just run quickpwn.

1st gen iPhones CAN support V2. And you want V2 +, it takes the phone itself to a new level.

I downloaded quikcpwn however it is not detecting my iphone connected. Any tips?

Should my phone be on or off? I've tried both but neither has shown success

You should be able to load any firmware version to the phone. If it's not showing up in iTunes when you plug it in, then just make sure that it's turned on. If it's still not showing up, you'll likely have to put it in to DFU mode. iClarified.com will have all the info on that. I have 2.2.1 on my 1st gen phone, so it will work.

I'm not sure if this works in Windows, but on a Mac, I just hold the option key and click on Restore in iTunes then point it at the updated firmware that I created using pwnage. That should be all that you need to do.

PM me if you're still having issues. I should be able to give you a hand with it.

And, if you're on a Mac, and running OS X 10.5.6, there are issues with DFU mode and the USB Kext.
