How about not sending nude pictures to people?

He was charged because he broke the law which was just, now the extent of punishment as with most cases is really upto the judge and/or lawyers.

Im not arguing with you about if he should have been charged or not. Im stating my case against the Registered sex offender title.

Technically every single person who saw that picture (which could have been very sexualy charged, or just a pic of her standing infron of the mirror doing her best myspace slut pose) should be charged with possesion of child pornography.

Including her parents, teachers, etc.

I bet if this happened you would have a huge other issue with the case.

The extend of how far you can push the law is a huge problem everywhere.

5 years probation, a monetary charge, sensitivity classes, public apology, possibly a ban on using technology, etc would not be out of the question for this scumbag.

After reading that, I can't really disagree with the punishment that was handed out.

What's to say that sending nudes of a girl to all her friends, family, teachers isn't comparably damaging as getting sexually assaulted?

Defamation is like making false statements to harm someones reputation. The pictures I doubt were photoshopped, so that puts that out of the piicture. It would be more so intentional infliction of emotional distress case.

I think it's illegal as long as the girl is <18 in the pictures when they were taken.

If the pictures were taken when you were 16 and she was 17 and you distribute the pictures when you were 18 and she was 19... you're still distributing child porn as an adult, and therefore would be charged.

No. There is a rule for this kind of thing. I can't remember exactly what it is, but there's something along the lines of you have to be within x number of years from your GF until she's 16 or until she's 18 if you're in a position of authority (coach, teacher etc.).

I'm torn on this one,

I dont think age should matter first of all if she is old enough to send a nudie of herself to him that is permission for him to see it (age of concent is 14 -I know this only applies if the person is withing two years of your age... but at the same time a picture and sex are two totally different things),

however the fact he sent them all over the place (even to her grandparents!!) is NOT right by anymeans. He should pay for what he did, although i dont think he should be labled as a child preditor. He was dating her and obviously she trusted him, that is much different then peeking in a window and watching a little girl change. But for those of you who think its not emotionally damaging your wrong. It's bad enough having photos sent to school mates, friends etc. but to her family? THats not right! Can you imagine how she will be looked at? Something that is all fun and games has become much more serious!

If a girl sends you pics, keep them to your self and visa versa, would you want photos of your "parts" posted all over for anyone to see? I feel bad for you if your not "well equipt" cause you certainly wouldnt live that one down!

Let me get this out first, the kid is a retard for doing what he did.

While I don't disagree with his punishment, he got tagged with a pretty serious title, when technically every one who was involved subsequently is guilty of the same exact crime, the only thing being different is the lack of malicious intent.

Keeping with the general direction child pornography is headed, this same girl should not be without repercussions as many teens who created the pictures of themselves are also being charged.
