Yeah there isn't, except perhaps a situation like this warrants a look to see if maybe there SHOULD be a difference, because like it's been mentioned earlier, when these pictures were taken or passed from the gf to the bf, it was done consensually.

Now, after they broke up, the bf decided to be a jackass and send them out. Bad, yes. Immoral, yes. Stupid, yes. But bad, immoral, and stupid to the same degree as a GENUINE pedophile destroying the innocence of little kids? No.

So the law needs to adapt to be able to deal with these situations instead of painting all under-18s with the same brush.

Teenagers are going to do stupid things.... they have been for years, and will continue to do so for ever and ever. These days, the trend is to take cell phone nekkit pics and send them around. 99 times out of 100 it's harmless fun for them. This is the exception, but the kid shouldn't have his whole life ruined because of it.

It's fine if you want to keep this guy away from your daughter... but is it because he's a sleazebag? or because he's a pedo? Because as far as I can tell, he's not a pedo, and should not be treated as such.

And also, I'm sorry, but all the people saying he "sexually assaulted" her need to give their heads a shake, because that is absolutely 100% false.

Haha, right, and marijuana is a gateway drug...

Did you really just imply that an 18 year old with pics of his 16 year old girlfriend is potentially a stepping stone to baby raping or pedophilia?

God, people are so stupid, it hurts.

Anyway, everyone who has seen the jailbait thread is a pedophile. 100% guaranteed at least a few of those girls are under 18. Hope none of you live near a school!

Your full of it, who the fuck is talking about weed? if you cant wrap your mind around the fact that distributing pornographic images of kids doesn't have some sort of negative impact beyond the initial distributors intent, then you live in your own little world and need to wake up .

You cant be the judge of how thats going to impact the girl in this situation. Thats why justice is blind. Society provides extra protection to all people under the age of 18. We dont have laws for being kind of a kid and kind of an adult because that would make things overly complicated (not to mention its also unnecessarily).

Even if this chick was over 18 she could still press charges for distributing those pics. No one gave him permission to do so.

Yes he is a sleeze bag. He is going to be on a list now so that other people can judge for themselves if they should be giving him nude pics or not. Thats fine by me.

this reminds me of this case i read a while back when there was these two couples (16 year old girl and a 18 year old guy) and the they were open about their relationship... but one day the mom and daughter got into a fight, and to piss off the daughter, the mom told the cops how a 18year old guy is dating their 16year old daughter, and he was charged, and now each year he has to register as a sex offender... the F*ed up thing is... they are now grown up, married and have two children together....but he still considered a sex offender by the law....

now i do agree that the guy sending nude pics of herself to everyone is wrong and he needs to be punished... but i do think having the lable sex offender till he's in his 40's is a little too harsh ... this guy shouldn't be treated the same as a 40year old man who looks for child porn ..

I don't think you're getting my point. Yes, everyone is treated objectively, and that's where my issue is. There should be some consideration given as to whether the law as it is now is applicable or appropriate. In my opinion, it's not. Why? Because teenagers sending pics like this to each other isn't exactly a rare occurrence anymore... and based on the law as it is now, every single one of those kids could technically be brought up on charges. Including the kids who just send each other pics, and never ever spread them around, or have anything negative happen out of it.

Back in the day, when these laws were drafted, it wasn't an issue because kids didn't have access to cameras and publishing equipment etc, so it was easier to monitor them. These days, it's hard to find a teenager WITHOUT a cell phone. So society has changed. The law should reflect those changes rather than applying an archaic standard to contemporary society.

Child porn is not a nude 16/17 year old girl. Yeah, technically (to me at least) she's underage. The reason the laws exist is because of the freaks, as previously mentioned, that take advantage of and creep on 11-15 year old girls when they are 25+.

I'm going to be honest... I'm 18, and I have nude pictures of my 17 year old girlfriend. She sent them to me. If I got labeled as a sex offender and child rapist until past the age of 40 for having them, I'd probably stab someone. End of story.

I agree with the fact that teens sending each other pics is normal. And that should not be considered a criminal act. No argument there.

The only thing this guy did differently was distribute them, and sure maybe distributing them to other teens might have made a difference but this retard sent them to teens, adults, seniors... If he were to get back at her he should have anonymously sent them online. I know he didnt go to prison but the saying still stands: There is no smart criminal in jail.

I dont think him having pics of a chick 2 years younger than him is the issue, I think the issue is that he sent underage pics of his ex to people WAY over the age limit. People that may/may not have wanted to see them and potentially could do mental damage to the recipients and the victim.

Even if she was over 18 she could have sued the fuck out of him anyways. He did a dumb ass thing and didnt think his "revenge" through.

Child porn is child porn. The fact he sent it to more than 70 people is still child porn distribution.
