CPS blitz?

Driving home with on the way home from coaching one of his soccer games tonight and we counted no less than nine cop cars sitting at intersections with the lights flashing and doing absolutely nothing.

I'm thinking it must be one of two things
1) all the Timmies ran outta donuts
2) They were all playing halo on the in car computers.

On a more serious note anyone know what was going on tonight?

Funny but no.

Nearly every other part of the city though. We Came from the CWS center by bearspaw then through the west, SW and finally far SE by mackenzie. Cop cars the whole way From one end to the other.

There was another shooting by Scirocco Dr (sp) and the cops were all over the city looking for the shooter. At least thats what Global news says. They also said that they brought in cops from different districts to help out.

I checked city beat and don't see it listed yet. Anybody have more info?

At about 8:50 PM, Tuesday March 10th 2009, Police responded
to reports of gunshots in the area of 17 Avenue & Sirocco
Drive S.W. Upon arrival, no one was located, however police
found several shell casings and some broken glass in a
parking lot behind a strip mall in the area. Witnesses
reported seeing 2 or 3 cars flee the area.

About 30 minutes later, police received a report that an 18
year old victim had arrived at a Hospital with a minor
gunshot wound. He had been driven to the hospital by his
father. It is unknown if the victim and offenders are known
to each other. The victims vehicle was also stolen during
this shooting. Police are looking for a 1992 Toyota Soarer
(direct import from Japan)Alberta Lic. GXY-352, light green
in color. The vehicle has the steering wheel on the right
hand side.

The victim has since been released from Hospital with minor
injuries to one of his lower calf muscles.

Doesn't it seem kind of silly for the police to sit parked at night with all the lights flashing when they are trying to find someone?

Even sitting in the back seat my kid could see the cop cars light's flashing long before the Police would be able to recognize what kind of vehicle anyone would be driving. The cops must know what they are doing and had thier reasons but it just seems weird to advertise you location to any criminal a mile before you can see the criminal.

Oh well I hope they catch them.

I still hope they catch the shooters and it is my opinion that having so many officers so 'visible' last night made it easier for the culprits to avoid detection.


Looking at ceity beat I also read a hose was 'fire bombed' last night, scary stuff.

Check the plate on it, they provided the plate of the vehicle they are looking for.


As for the cops pulled over with their lights flashing, it was not related. I've seen them doing this on northmount drive a couple of times as well. I am not entirely sure why they do it but I was told once it is so they can shut parts of the road down for some kind of transports, maybe they were transporting prisoners or somebody/thing else high profile?

No they were parked in some really dumb locations, for example 50-100m before entrances to Deerfoot S exits and at a three way stop by 87st and Nose hill drive, the only people on that road at that intersection were people leaving the soccer dome. Another one was sitting way on the N side of the 14th street overpass above Glenmore Trail.
