Define "good" for your needs. Active, passive, Canada only, etc.
I think most retail investors overthink things, so I reccomend boring index stuff. HUC, HUN, HOG etc.
    Keeping talking dirty to me

Fuck, even in my business... Just the month of October cost me a shade over $5400.00 in merchant processing fees... So fucking gross.

Anyone know of any good S&P500 or broad market ETF’s that structure their returns purely as capital gains? Goal is no dividends.

I'm not sure any exist as I've also looked for years. In the USA virtually all ETFs are available in mutual fund form, which automates the investment of dividends.

I think the best you can do is tell the brokerage that you want to DRIP the ETF.

a small-cap fund should be largely capital gains.

Trying to setup some stuff in my daughters name, my understanding is dividends are no bueno and dad pays the taxes, but cap gains in a child’s name are taxed at her marginal rate?

US dividends are handled differently anyway, aren't they?
    I'm a smooth-brained ape. I don't know how anything works

Yea. Best case Ontario would be a Canadian domiciled fund traded on the TSX for tax efficiency.

Should avoid the issue of US withholdings.

Maybe what I need is an estate planner? I’ve never really understood what financial advisors actually do for what you pay them though.

Well you can have a free conversation with your fund salesman at the bank, but the level of knowledge in that position is pretty variable. I've met a good one, and a few of the other.
