Dead Calgary man involved in drug trade, say RCMP

RCMP say a Calgary man found dead on rural road Monday was involved in the drug trade.

Police released a photograph on Thursday of 28-year-old Edward Reginald Makaruk, also known as Al, who had been shot.

A passerby found Makaruk's body face down on a road Monday around 6 p.m. near Langdon, east of Calgary. It's not know yet if he died at the site or was killed somewhere else.

"Police are requesting the public's assistance in solving this crime," police said in a statement released Thursday.

Patiently awaiting "he was a chill guy" remarks.

I know him. He dated my sister for a year and I was roommates with him during that year (most of 2007 and some of 08).

Did it ever clue into you that he was involved in such activity. Minor dealers in high schools arent being shot because they are to small. To have someone after you i think you need to be a pretty big dealer.

Oh I knew he was into dealing, and big time too, and other stuff but not for me to say. But he was paying rent, and NEVER brought it back to our house, so I was fine with it. I saw some weird stuff happen though hahaha. A couple awkward "mornings". I dunno if you call 2-4am morning lol.

I dunno how I feel about the whole thing, him and my sister ended on a VERY BAD note. I'm not sad, but not happy about it either. Just neutral I guess.
