    Default BMW Shadowline trim

Has anybody ever used this stuff?

    http://www.bmwshadowline.com/

Its vinyl and its only $20. I HATE the chrome trim on the 3 series. You can't tell as much on alpine white because it kind of blends into the color but i just can't stand chrome and want to change the look.

Option 1: Order the shadowline oem trim from BMW. $300+ just on the trim alone. I would have to take mine off and chances are since this stuff is very delicated, i would end up breaking it or cracking it unless i was extremely careful. I can only imagine that the install is just as annoying as well.

Option 2: Buy this stuff at $20 and just wrap over it. I know its not going to last forever but it will last a few years at least.

Bought it, still haven't done it. can't be bothered.

Shadowline from BMW is $800 USD, not $300.

The trim is brushed aluminium, not chrome.

    Bought mine from here:

i painted mine, from what i read the vinyl tape doesn't hold well in hot weather. Plus painting would be more permanent. Every bmw i have bought, thats the first thing i do when i get the car.

heres me painting my old 330ci

Give this stuff a try, works like a charm and can be peeled off if you change your mind

Well im going to try it, see how it works out. I use to work at a sign store a few years ago so i have worked with vinyl a lot. I wasn't sure of the exact price, i think i read somebody saying it was over $300 thats why i put "$300+" because i wasn't sure on what the exact cost was. It looks chrome to me and thats what everyone calls it so i figured thats what it was.

I'm tempted to invest in some of this myself. I have the Chromeline package on the M, and I've never really been a fan of it.

I need to look into this mod badly myself. I have no clue why they would use chrome trim on the m3

Its basically a spray on rubber coating that dries matte black. The sweet thing about it is, if you don't like it, you can just peel it all off in one piece.

I have done this myself using vinyl that I got from Victory Vinyls (great people). It has been on for about 3 years. I just made the mistake of using gloss black as opposed to matte black. I will be redoing my trim this year, I think.

Ordered it from the link in the original post. We'll see how it turns out. It was only 20 bux, it will be the cheapest yet most dramatic mod on my m3
