There was a guy who knocked at my door last night at about 10pm asking if he could borrow some cash because he got locked out of his house via an electronic keypad and a repair service came but he had to pay them cash right away. Promised to be back in 30 minutes from Scotia Bank and pay me back right away. Being a good samaritan I lent him $46 dollars, and he gave a quick phone call to someone via my phone and then he left. So I waited for him for an hour to two hours and nada.
So this morning I went around the neighborhood just to check if someone recognized this guy and a couple people said they also had helped the guy and he just disappeared.
Now I know at this point it's probably hopeless since it was probably a scam, and I definitely learned my lesson about helping people. Just thought I'd throw a warning out there just in case someone knocks at your door, telling the same story.
I didn't get his name but he's wearing a Blue Jayman Builder coat, about 5 foot 6in to 8in, Caucasian, about 40-50yrs old. The number he called from my phone is (403)404-3001. I called the number and the person who picked up the phone said they live in Red Deer and not in Calgary.
