Question Police targeted in Calgary shooting?

    http://www.calgaryherald.com/Police+...987/story.html

News is sparse now but from what I'm seeing on tv a man was boxed in from both sides at the Richmond Car Wash last night and shot up.

They are saying it might have been an off duty cop as the Alberta Serious Inicdent Response Team, a provincial squad mandated to probe officer conduct in events that result in serious injury or death is there.

Fuck if the guy was boxed in from both sides at this car wash, he must have been followed for a while and this must have really been planned. They are saying it appears to be a cop and the car shown on the news had the undercover crown vic appearance.

What kind of carwash is that? Is it one of those self-serve bays where you can drive in and drive straight out the other side?

Yeah I used to use this carwash weekly when I lived in Calgary.

Its one of those wand wash drive in and drive straight out types. However when you drive out, your led into a alley with a very narrow path and only one way out. If the guy was boxed in like they say, he'd have no chance to get out even on foot as to leave he would have to run towards the shooters.

Yeah he was boxed in as in a car blocking his exit from in front and behind. The doors to leave on foot are right beside the garage doors so guy was seriously trapped.

where are you getting this information from? in the herald article you cited, it doesn't say anywhere that a cop was targeted or shot - only that it was a shooting involving police (i.e. police shot someone). says the same thing on cbc.

    1) Authorities are probing a shooting involving A (as in one only) Calgary police officer earlier this morning.

    2) The incident will be investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, a provincial squad mandated to probe officer conduct in events that result in serious injury or death.

3)There was a shooting, where a car was boxed in. I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing police usually wouldnt do a take down at a public car wash by boxing in someone with unmarked police cars. They also mention only one officer involved. If this was a police takedown gone bad and those are 2 undercover cop cars, why is only one cop being investigated when there would defentely have been many there?

Never said for sure, but thats how I see it.

This info was what I heard on citytv morning news at 8:00 AM. I then went online to get details and found that herald article.

No you got me, I'm purposely spreading misinformation.

This is why IMHO an off duty cop should be allowed to carry a gun. They are always a cop, on or off duty, so they should always be equipped.

edit: and I am aware Im going to get flamed for this, so flame away you flaming flamers

The car in the picture on the link does not have Crown Vic appearance. The head light and grill are from a Caprice of an older generation. (early to mid 90's)

Public car wash? At 3:15 am?

This isn't that unusual. They're open 24hrs for a reason and whenever I pop in at an odd time like that, I'm usually not alone.

I apologize, I wasn't aware it was 24 hrs. I should know as this is in my neighborhood and have washed my vehicles there in the past. The owner is a pretty cool guy. NIce BMW as well!

I love washing my car late at night, when theres hardly anybody around you can stay in the bay and clean/dry it and stay warm (great in the winter months). Obviously when it gets busy I find somewhere to park and finish , but I always try and wash my car in the really early morning or the later evening/night
