Put the cpu in a system that you know works.
do you see the BIOS screen when booting?
try booting without the CPU
how are you positive the CPU is to blame?
check CAPs haha, regulars know that this is the first thing I tell anyone to check when they have computer problems..but seriously look into that, if not could also be your ram. CPUs don't go bad often
werd ^^ ive had 1 that went bad on me that decided to die one day.
whatever it was a old school p4 northwood processor that are prone to dying all the sudden.
it died on me after having it overclocked by 33 percent for 6 years.
^ I still have 4 P4 cpus lying on my desk if you need one matt
pmd
The same as what GQballa has said put it in a computer that you know works...
If you are doing this for warranty purposes than the place you are bringing it to will most likely check this for you...
But yeah.. I personally think the CPU would be the LAST thing that ever breaks. CPU's are pretty reliable.. When diagnosing a computer problem the last thing i check is the CPU.
Motherboards fail way more often than CPU's. Without a CPU installed the computer won't even post so it is really tricky to pin down either a CPU or motherboard failure. Only way to verify it 100% is to swap one or the other.
