Honestly, reading No Easy Day, you feel the sheer frustration the Navy Seals have to face in our politically correct world (having to have soldiers with them on certain operations to act as 'witnesses' where the seals have to give their assailants a chance to surrender first, waiting for the order to act out their missions from a bunch of people who sit behind a desk and think they can do their jobs better, etc).

Makes you sort of laugh, even specially trained soldiers go through the bureaucratic crap of inexperienced people telling them how to do their job.
Another suggestion if you're into military books:
    "Fifteen Days" - Christie Blatchford

Stories about Canadian troops deployed in 2006. Good perspective on the day to day of deployment, combat, casualties. Hits hard for a lot of people.

The forgotten soldier by Guy Sajer. WWII German soldiers tells his story of the war, almost finished, but it's hard to understand what people actually went through. Reading books and watching documentaries doesn't seem to do it justice.

Finished the Rise of the Governer from the Walking Dead series. Pretty decent.

Just finished WWZ and as much as I enjoyed the creativity of being inside a zombies head in Warm Bodies, WWZ is highly more detailed and realistic! Couldn't put it down!

I'm currently reading this book and enjoying it quite a lot.

PS - I heard that not only is the author in a bit of trouble for publishing this book (without approval), but apparently he and a few other of his former teammates are also now in some trouble for their involvement as consultants on the Medal of Honor Warfighter game.

I heard that too, almost makes me want to buy Warfighter if it wasn't for the terrible reviews it got lol... maybe I'll pick it up for the single player campaign when price drops or when it goes on sale

Time to pimp another set from my favorite author

If you're into fantasy with a little weird magic thrown in, look no further than Brandon Sanderson. As part of loading up my Kobo with ebooks, picked up a trilogy I read before, called the Mistborn trilogy, and falling in love with the series all over again. Don't know how it is, but all of Sanderson's books are just so easy to read, yet have extremely in depth, complex, layered plots and characters.

The trilogy is (all titles preceded by "Mistborn:")

    -The Final Empire
    -The Well of Ascension
    -The Hero of Ages

and the "short" novel (85k words o_O!) The Alloy of Law

If you're at ALL into fantasy, Sanderson is a modern master. Definitely recommended.

I've finally gotten around to reading the Millennium series (Dragon Tattoo, Played with Fire, Kicked the Hornets' Nest) and found them really enjoyable. Anyone got any spy/conspiracy genre recommendations that are good to read?

This is an older book (about a year old) but I'm currently reading The Timekeeper by Mitch Albom and really enjoying it. I'll be reading The Five people you meet in heaven also by him afterwards.

Leviathan wakes - it's a science fiction book based 200 years in the future. Humans have colonized the solar system and a major conflict erupts between various political organizations (earth, mars, and the other planets). Quick read and action packed, I highly recommend it.

Buy seven and get the dark tower series by Stephen King if you haven't read it.

Read it over the summer and really enjoyed it.
Edit: or just the first book in the series, titled "The Gunslinger"
I haven't read a lot of Stephen King, but I'm told it's not his "typical writing style" if that helps sway you.

I might pick up the leviathan wakes series.

I'm really liking the Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds. I'm on the second book out of 3. These are considered hard sci-fi and I can see why.

"Fountainhead" (Ayn Rand). Lots of people think it's phenominally boring but I love it. Only a hundred or so pages left then I'm thinking about jumping in to the Halo novels, or Ice and Fire.
