Default which auto body shop to for a minor MINOR scratch

i accidently bumped into a red chevrolet cobalt sedan REALLY REALLY gently while driving yesterday

on the guy's rear bumper, there is no scratch OR dent at all

the guy called his friend, who is a mechanic in NE, and told me that it usually costs about a g to 'fix' his bumper, but he'll be nice and says i can just pay $500

noway im paying this because theres absolutely no damage on the bumper
but since i dont wanna get into any trouble with the law or call insurance agency to deal with such minor incident, i am willing to pay for his 'damage' but im lookin for an autobody shop that will not charge me with this ridiculous price

honestly the scratch is about _______ wide and ==== thin

    does anybody have recommendation?

If you "accidentally" bumped me I'd demand you replace my entire bumper, unless you want to go through insurance, regardless of how small the damage was. I think you got off lucky with $500.

Anyways, if you run your fingernail over the damage, can you feel the groove? If not, a quick wetsand cut&polish might be able to fix it up.

What kind of birdhouse can you build with popsicles, roofies, and a rubber mallet?

Assholes that say you bumped them and they want a whole bumper should fuck off. What a useless way to cause you and yourself more of a pain in the ass and causing someone a waste of money. Grab a life. Having the same bumper on is beneficial in numerous ways. It fits, the colors match the rest of the vehicle better, and it's just logical that oops, someone made a mistake let's not screw someone else around. Plus your car gets torn apart to fix it, and clips don't really enjoy going out and back in.

Honestly, try polishing it and if it completely goes away lots of places wouldn't even charge you for that service. If you do have to paint the bumper it should cost around 500 to have done professionally, or find someone who'd be willing to do it a bit cheaper. Definitely try a polish first though.

Phoenix autobody is no longer btw. It's been changed to Telkor Collision and is across the street from where Phoenix was.
