Help me get my roommates $$$/PC back from a computer repair SCAMMER!

My roommate (foolishly) paid a man to repair her computer. They met up at the UofC and she gave him $350 upfront to repair the laptop screen. The guy has been avoiding her since (it has been 5 days), and ignoring her calls and even telling her he got into a car accident.

Yesterday I decided I would call the # on the ad and claim that "my computer was crashing and needed to get fixed quick". The scumbag calls me this morning saying he'd love to meet up asap for the computer. I told him to call me when I'm done work tonight around 6.

I asked my roommate to email me all the info/ads/"invoices" that she has on the guy, and I will post them here shorty.

I was wondering what my best plan of action here is? How do I get my roommates money and laptop back? Should I try and bring him over to my house and suprise him with a few of my big friends

He scams by making you meet up in a public place... my roommate was naive. I asked her to email me all his info so I will have his name and # soon. My roommate says that he calls her from all sorts of numbers, apparently just asking randoms in the mall if he can borrow their phone to call.

I'm thinking of bringing a couple friends with cameras, meeting up with him and getting them to follow him covertly.

I would get the relevant documentation. Then when you meet him, tell him you want the screen back or the $ and screen back. Deal is over.

Have her go with you. She doesn't have to show her face but it then gives you the option that you go with him to his house to get the computer back and she can follow to pick you up.

Then you can do something to his black, Razo stickered Skyline.

If you tell him to come to your place and surprise him with friends, he will first say he doesnt have cash on him (which will require you to kidnap and forcibly take him to a atm), and then he will also know where you live for the future.

If he does meet you, he wont have cash on him or your friends laptop. So you'll have to confront him and then wait on him again to bring the money/computer. Because of that I would maybe try calling the non emergency police line and explain your situation. There is a police station near the foodcourt of every major mall. Get buddy to meet you at the food court, and then while your looking at the comp, the cops could confront him?

I just got this email from my roommate:

www.mrtechhead.net is the website they use.. I have 2 sets of receipts, but some of it is in pencil, I don't have a scanner so I can give them to you when you get home.
http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Albert...&le=4c8e9bbaec Yellow pages ad.. with the fake address. My dad just called me and told me that I can file a police report now, since listing their address as that homeless shelter is fraud. He called the Calgary police department and they told him that.

I'm not sure how long it will be up, since they took off the last one.
They called from a bunch of different numbers and I've had numbers call that I haven't picked up, so some of these might be random people's cell phones or car dealerships.. my dad said he called from a car dealership once.
403-918-6144 is a number he gave me to call him directly, I don't think I ever got through on it. He has called me from it though.
I think 403-210-9355 was used by them but I'm not sure.
403-589-8607 might be one of the numbers, not sure about that either.
403-263-8396 he called from once. 403-263-9027.
403-294-9665 was the number that some other guy called me from on Friday night to inform me that "his boss was in a car accident and he would take car of everything". When I call that number back, it rings once and then beeps for a few seconds and hangs up.

That's all I have I think. Let me know what's up.

I also called a friend of mine whose father is part of CPS... she'll let me know if they can help out.

If he keeps avoiding your friend, call him yourself and explain you saw his ad and that you have a computer that needs to get fixed and set up a meeting.

I want to suspect this a poorly run business and not a total scam. The mustard seed address is sketchy but who would go to the trouble of placing a yellowpages ad and having a website in order to steal computers and/or cash. I wouldnt think it would take the cops long to track down the operation and shut it down.

pls read the OP, obviously not a legit business. it is fraud to falsify your business address. people who want to take money and property from other people set up ads and websites in order to do so. it is nothing new, and this is definately a scam.
