Well, you used the word "often" so how often is it that it takes 40 minutes to go from SAIT to downtown?

If I was using the work "often" it would need to be more than 2-3 times a week.

On average I would say 2 times a week, sometimes its more, sometimes its less, and its worse in the winter. ~2 out of 5 work days is 'often' in my opinion considering the simplicity of the task (successfully having the train travel two stops). I've had weeks where all 5 days had bad delays. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks that is unreasonable, but I don't think the trains should be nearly as unreliable as they are.

more often when it is in the extreme weather.

summer time usually works fine but still.....the delays are pretty ridiculous.

By the way, if they really improve the security and the quality of service. I'll gladly pay the parking fee.

Is service reallygoing to improve though? I highly doubt it.

Blame the provincial government for Calgary Transit's shortfall in terms of service.

Ontario Govt pumps in $9B to Toronto to upgrade their transit system. Alberta gives Calgary a whopping $135M last time I saw funding come in.

Must be because "public transit" sounds too Socialist for Alberta...

I agree, I'd pay way more for a Bus Pass if the service was significantly improved. As you say though, no matter how much money they get, I can almost guarantee service won't improve. Also if they air conditioned the cars, they could cut the summer time faintings/medical emergencies down by probably 95%.

    Not quite comparable.

The $9B in Ontario was a stimulus package for new subway lines.

Not much different than the $3.3 billion pledged from the province of Alberta for the West and SE legs of the LRT.

The $3.3B figure was for total infrastructure not just transit. Only $700M was for the West LRT. Still a far cry from $9B dedicated purely for Transit expansion.

I'll let you calculate the per capita funding so you can see Calgary Transit is under-funded.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the fees for the park and ride now. That's the worst part. Paying money to park, and then more money to take the train that takes forever to get anywhere.

The C-Train is fine for me. Though I take to School between 9-10am and I take it home between 3-4pm. So really I miss both rush's.

I think the bus service sucks more then the C-Train.

Vancouver has a pretty good transit system.

Must've gone downhill then. No trains, but there was one common theme that I remember in Winnipeg (mind you I moved here over a decade ago) the buses were on time. That is key. If that's changed, I still remember them being at least cleaner than Calgary Transit (which must've taken the best cleaning staff in the world, as Winnipeg itself is quite the shithole). If those 2 things have changed for the worst, then I STILL don't see how Calgary Transit is better. Equal maybe.

calgarys transit it a joke.. i will never take it again..ive paid for cab rides downtown just so i wouldent have to take the transit...
