The only thing gay about a miata is the person driving it. Some of you should look in a mirror.
Yes, I would rock a miata
No, I would not rock a miata

Monster Miata - Fuck yes

This is why I voted Yes, I would do a 5.0 or LS1 swap

Can someone who speaks brown please translate this for me please?
LOL, you could challenge much faster cars than a mustang GT once the ls1 swap is completed. I bet 11's could be accomplished with the right tires and driver. Maybe a Z06 would be a fair match?Originally posted by 01RedDX
Get a Miata LS1 swap, challenge a Mustang GT to a drag and then see who's gay.
As far as affordable lightweight RWD roadsters go, it's hard to beat.

But give her a thumb in the eye just to be safe.
See, the thing about the v8 swap that is silly, is how you shoot the weight distribution to shit. Yes, this would not matter on a drag strip, but if you were trying to build an all around performer, that would SUCK. I guess what it comes down to, as it ALWAYS does, is what you want the car to do. I say sr20det or build and turbo the stock engine, because i myself would want an all around performer, that does decent at everything.
AFAIK, the miata has the same engine but N/A as the protege 323 gt-x and ford escort gt (bp turbo 1.8L DOHC, 176 HP @ 6000 RPM, 172 LBS-FT @ 3000 RPM) ...it would be soo easy to boost that thing for quick power and you still keep the weigth
See I voted yes for the amount of money your looking to spend it seems perfect for your budget.
I have a mag that has a f20c swap in one.
Personally I think I would still save for a s2000, that and the later generations are better looking

Miata is a homo car. No discussion.
Not cool.Originally posted by shadowz
Yeah, I think the V8 swap is like swapping an LS1 into an RX7; it doesn't affect the weight distribution at all.Originally posted by sr20s14zenki

If you think a turbo SR20 is gonna be lighter than an LS1 or something, you have to be kidding.
The 5.0 swap leaves it at 53/47 which isn't bad at all, and the LS1 is only about 30lb heavier. Yeah you're ruining 50/50, but it's still pretty good.Originally posted by sr20s14zenki

I drove a 98 Miata from San Fransisco to Los Angeles in 2003 and I absolutely loved it. The car was a blast to drive down the coast highway. I'd buy one in a heatbeat.
But then again, I'm married to a beautiful, intelligent woman and don't need to prove my masculinity to anyone.
Bought not built!
I rock a NC. awesome handling.

Yes, yes you are...

Looks like it's divided pretty evenly between the two. I was once told back in the day when I used to solo my rx7 that a miata was a perfect track car. And this was told to me by a guy who was at the solo track with a track only corvette. It's a perfect car for tracking. Light weight, rwd, drop top as well which is nice on a nice hot summer day. With a bit of engine work or a nice swap they are monsters.
theirs a nice little daily driving miata somewhere in the city hiding a 350, the only way to tell it's in there is that the cheap laughable walmart hood scoop, is actually functional.
I'd see him at the blaskin & lane by north hill all the time. he buys 2 tires at a time. but never for the front for some reason.

2003 Mazda B4000 on 35s
I've seen a miata in town with 5.0 on the front quarter panel, and a mean rumble out back. Crazy platform for whatever you want to do with it.

yah, i just did some research, i cant believe how light an ls1 is. Damn. Plastic manifold bastards, that prolly saved alot of weight. I stand corrected, sr20det actually weigh around 450 lb with transmission, so its only slightly less than the ls1 with a tranny on it as well.Originally posted by 95EagleAWD

However, anybody who wastes their time with an iron blocked v8 in that car would be silly.
^ Any LS series will drop in there with relative ease.
The ONLY way I'd ever rock a Miata, is for the LS series swap. Thats it.
With that engine the options are phenominal.

There is absolutely nothing exciting about a stock Miata IMO, they are underpowered with hardly any torque. I also hate the way the look and definitely see it as a "chick" car.
If you were to do significant mods, they become less gay, but I'd take just about anything over a Miata.
