No Pacman, nooooooo.
Ah, to each his own. I find the minimal amount of time I actually spend making lather (about 30 seconds or so) is worth the effort in the end. I tend to have dry skin so lathering with a cream tends to keep my skin moisturised.

How long was it taking you to make a lather? Like TorqueDog said, it's pretty fast . . .
I should time myself...

Yeah, it should be quick. My lather takes ~45 seconds to build up and froth.Originally posted by ExtraSlow

Just wondering if anyone has some spare blades that I could pick up off them? I've been waiting for the past couple of weeks for a sampler pack from ebay but it appears to be stuck at customs or something, and the merkur that came with my HD razor is no longer sharp.
heloc that shit
If you're in a bind I know the some shoppers locations carry blades; I bought some about a month ago there; Wilkinson Sword brand I believe.Originally posted by lint

I have also converted to a Merkur Progress. I love its adjustability for different parts of my face...
Problem I am having with this DE razor is the profile of the head is quite large. Can any of you guys recommend a razor that has a lower profile head on it?
Reason I ask is for side burns and goatee detail trimming/shaving, I often cant see where exactley the left/right edge of the blade is for creating sharp lines and detail? Any suggestions?

definitely looking into trying this, i shave fairly rarely, but when i do i get nasty ingrowns on neck area, anyone have a razor theyd part with? prefereably something n00b friendly, will be ordering some soaps etc from rosage pulin
pm me if you have an availabe de!
I have several I cleaned up the other day to sell. I bought like 10 different ones on ebay to see what I liked, and now I have more than I need. I've got a 57 Gilette Superspeed that is a great razor for a newbie (I still use my 40s style superspeed quite often). I'll let it go for $35 shipped xpresspost (1 business day) to Calgary (I'm south of you) or for $30 I'll meet you in Claresholm or Vulcan.Originally posted by coop3rr

Edit: I see he wanted a pm so I sent him one. If anyone else is interested in some vintage razors I have 2 or 3 open combs (I'd have to look at home to remember what they are specifically), a 60's travel tech... all Gilette stuff I think. One of the open combs is quite old and comes in a silver case with a blade holder, another has a wood box and 2 blade holders. I'm not looking to profit just make a few $ back on the ones I don't want anymore. I can post up pics when I get home tonight if anyone wants.
Edit Again: Here are some pictures of what I have. Rather than go into details about them all in a non-marketplace thread, feel free to pm me if you want more info.
Travel Tech (date code L1)
Gold Open Comb
'57 Super Speed (date code C1)
40's style super speed
Open comb in wooden box
Silver plated open comb set with case
The last 2 albums have more than 1 page.
A couple are pictured with blades. These came with the razors when I bought them. They are vintage blades, so I would not suggest using them, but they are kinda interesting.

What do you use to clean if there's hard water residue on your razor?
scrubbin bubbles - also good for sanitizing. Just don't get the bleach stuff - just get the regular formula; w/ bleach screws up finishes...
found this last night at Walmart for my son.

Haha, I had a Ghostbusters one when I was four.

Got my first Silvertip and might I say, it is very soft to the touch. It's not that firm so it kinda just flops around...
I still have to break this in but so far, I'm happy! And this brush got good reviews from the shaving community.
eBay rules haha.
