Default Reoccurring visit from a cat

I keep seeing this same cat come to me whenever I get home or have the garage open. I have no knowledge of any of my neighbours owning a cat. Tonight I just got home and it was meowing like mad and was pretty chilly out so I thought I would bring it in for at least the night as its pretty late.

I don't know much about cats but is it normal for owners to let cats roam all day everyday and even at night where there are known to be coyotes?

I've given it a bit of tuna and left out some 2% milk in the outside room I have here. The cat does have claws, and is sort of dirty but not too bad.

There does appear to be a tattoo in its ear and the cat is also pretty friendly doesn't hiss or run away.

What should I do? Let it go back outside and find its home if it is someones cat? Call someplace? Any tips?

Just trying to look out for a cat that I see out ALL the time.

Here are pics I took last time i saw it (yesterday evening)

Good for looking out for kittah

Last place I lived I'd see the same cat wondering the neighborhood all day long. Be it 8am or 11pm. He'd always follow me around.

I wondered the same thing though about him/her being left out all day.

He's pretty fucking fat, food doesn't seem to be an issue for him. Is the cat spayed or neutered?

The tattoo in it's ear is traceable. If you call the humane society they can get a hold of the owners for you.

I know nothing really about cats so I cant tell if its a male or female and I'm not particularly interested to go digging around in its bits.

I'm gonna say its someones pet and I will release it in the morning when its warmer and if it comes back I'll call some animal place that deals with this kind of stuff.

If I did want to check for signs of it being spayed or neurtered what do I look for and how do I do it without pissing it off?

Cats make me paranoid because I always think they are going to scratch my face off.

Yeah, as I think more and more about it I agree.

Im getting scammed by a fucking cat!

I'll release it tomorrow and see if it runs home and follow it and let the owners know.

Or tie a string with a note on it to the cat.

Don't give the cat milk. Milk is bad for cats.

You can call animal services and let them know there is a stray cat, and that it might have a tattoo. Call 311 for the number to animal services. You can also take it to a shelter to see if they can locate their owners.

I hate seeing cats wandering around, they drive my cats crazy in my house. I also hate irresponsible cat and dog owners

    x2.

Good job looking out for the cat though

edit: yeah, full grown cats are actually lactose intolerant. They'll still suck the stuff back, but its not the best thing for them.

I've never had a cat that didn't puke after drinking milk.

I used to have a outdoor cat, we would usually let him out during the day and get him back in at night, he was pretty good and didnt leave the yard and always came back at night. I am sure at times he wandered to the neighbours, and there were the occasional nights were he wouldnt come in.

So you could have someones outdoor cat, or it could be a stray. Either way, like people said, let the cat out in the morning and if he sticks around call animal control and hopefully they can track down the owners, but if they cant then you are stuck with a cat.
