0-60 km/h?
everyone just shut the fuck up, a stock heavy boat vs a little sports car is a stupid argument
stock aristo:
276hp (crank factory rating)
1680 kg (curb weight)
jared's pos silvia
250whp (conservative rating at low boost and slipping clutch)
250whp*1.15(drivetrain loss)=287.5hp
1170 kg (curb weight)
do i even have to do the calculations?
exactly my point
the aristo doesnt do 0-60 in 4 seconds
neither does jared's silvia beat lambos...
god dam no more of this spec garbage, lets just set up a few runs and see who comes on top?
Edit: and ill run the winner
jared's silvia beats lambos all day.... when they are parked on the side of the road and he passes byOriginally posted by Sorath

The argument was never between my Aristo and Jared's Silvia so I am totally clueless as why people are talking about them together . The debate was between a Silvia and a Soarer.
I thought all that was clearly stated above. The 4 second thing is a totally different story not related to the statements above.
I never claimed it to be a 4 second time period for my Aristo, or any stock Aristo for that matter. For fun, one night I taped my speedometer out of my own curiosity. Seemingly enough, hit 100 kilometers an hour from a dead stop around 4 or 5 seconds.
Cheers.

so, soarer specs are right near the same as the aristo... if not heavier.... and unless it has a big single setup i doubt anything else it has would make it close with the silvia

hahahah
listen and hear my crx omg i love how loud it is!
sorry for the shitty quiality vid!! i was trying to record while i was driving
But this Soarer isn't heavier or an automatic and is slightly modded. It is much quicker than both a stock Aristo or Soarer. So the specs you've listed aren't really that useful in this situation.Originally posted by ercchry

haha oh it is not an automatic so that means it goes vrooommm hahaha.... it is still almost 1000lbs heavier then a silviaOriginally posted by bosa

old toyota boats are not quick
Im not gonna lie im not in to start shit but i think just clarifying your friends mods or quarer mile times for his Soarer will just stomp the argument cuz right now im kind of agreeing with Ercchry, stock for stock my b16 civic was almost dead even with a soarer that had exhaust and front mount. Soooo id say jsut with the weight difference alone it would have to have a decent amount of work to keep up with an upgraded Silvia...
^^^ I have to agree, there are simple equations to find out what you will do in the quarter, based on weight and horsepower. All that matters as far as im concerned is HP per LB. I know that my car weighs 2900lbs with me in it (heavy ass s14) and i run the quarter in 13.7 seconds, which makes sense if you do the equation. The soarer may be fast, but its no 13 second car, and if it is, lets see slips. I have a pile of slips, and video , from my runs, thats all the proof i need to provide.

"Automatic transmission and non lock-up torque converters "use" a lot of power! We are finding anywhere from 15 to 25% less power then a vehicle with a similar engine but with a standard transmission. Superflow did a test in fact where they put a motor on an engine dyno, and then put it in a car and did a rear wheel horsepower test with an auto trans, and non lock-up converter, and lost 30% of their power!" - http://www.dynomotive.ca/faq.html
you are a moron and fail at math
all this means is an auto would lose even worse then the manual... even if he was having 0 drivetrain lose the fact that the car is 1000lbs heavier is enough to make it much slower then the silvia
This has been taken to PM.
