    Question Duty/Customs/Brokerage Fees

I need to know if anyone has shipped rims and tires from the US or anything that is comparable in price to about $1000 CAD.

What are the Duty, Customs, and Brokerage fees that are added on when you get your rims? or your product?

I was looking to get new rims and tire package from the US sent to Calgary. The Value of the rims would be approx. $1000.

I haven't ordered anything before that has been sent up from the US. So people with experience can you help me out.

Well you can't just compare to any product since different products have different rates. This topic has been covered before quite extensively so you should try and search and you might find some good information.

If they are made in the U.S.A. then there is no duty. If they aren't then there is duty. I think the duty on the wheels is about 6% to 10%. I heard the duty on tires is pretty high so its not even worth buying them out of the U.S. Thats just what i heard though.

A fellow dubber ordered his rims from Germany and I believe duty and tax on them was just around 400 bucks (rims were about 3K).

It's buying small things that's a complete ripoff. My first order was an 8 dollar US badge - ended up costing 30 bucks cdn by the time everyone took their nickels.

So what would the approx. charges be for rims and rubber package that is valued at $1000 approx. CAD? It might just be rims depending. Any ideas?

I would totally guess no more than 150 bucks CDN. GST and duty.

that would be me. it was $70 a wheel duty. (on a $600 wheel) so for you 'd assume no more than $130-140.

Just make sure they're not shipped UPS. I got in on a group buy for an exhaust and they wrote the value as $100 but I ended up paying $45 to ship it and $55 for brokerage. DAMN UPS!!!
