    Default Be a Beer Connoisseur

    Name some great beers.
Not for price, but for taste, hoppiness, and just all around greatness in beer.

    I'll start off with
    'Pilsner Urquell'
    (Its a Czech Beer)
If you dont really like beer, this isnt for you, it has the bitter taste and has the real hoppiness to it.
But it is one of my favorites as of late.

Classic Corona and lime or a ice cold Heineken do it for me.

Pilsner Urqell is a great beer, especially in Czech! I couldn't get over how cheap beer was in Prague. You could get a liter of Urqell during happy hour for 1 Euro.

Needless to say, unnecessarily drunken debauchery ensued.

My favorites: Steam Whistle, Hoegaarden, Kilkenny.

I'm loving Brahma lately. it's a Brazilian beer so it's a little sweeter and is very refreshing on a hot day. They go down so easily you could get yourself in trouble pretty quickly.

    Cheap, Great, Canadian. Criminally overlooked.

Winnipeg's finest - Great pils, really drinkable.

    Good introduction to this:

Phils pils' bigger brother, great example of one of the most popular styles of Beer amongst beersnobs- India Pale Ale.

Another great Canadian Microbrew is Tree's HopHead.

All below $12 per six pack, you have no excuses.

Unibroue for sure as mentioned above.

Also a great tasting beer would be Innis and Gunn Oak Barrel Aged Beer.

i drink way too much beer, and have been drinking dark, heavy microbrews religiously since about 1997 haha. well now that i'm getting older i started to get some little love handles growing, and a belly. i'm not overweight by any means (i'm about 6'1" and about 175?), but i figure this is from all the beer i'm drinking. so i tried to switch to light beer, and unfortunately all light beer tastes like the same watery crap. i've been buying sleeman's light, and also the co-op light beer (half the price and tastes just like sleeman's), but it kinda sucks. does anyone know if there are any low-calorie lagers or ales or at least something with a taste to it?

Two interesting facts you may not know

    1. The country with the most beers in the world - Czech

    2. The number one selling beer in the America's- Brahma

I still don't quite believe #2, but last weekend I was at a beer tasting and they had Beer trivia for bonus prizes and those two questions came up.

^^i don't believe number one, either. i've traveled through czech and there wasn't a huge diversity of beers there... it's all pilsner, and mostly all you see is pilsner urquel, staropramen or budvar.

a great beer from slovak republic is zlaty bazant (or golden pheasant). they sell it at superstore for like $2 for a pint can. good shit, but $2 seems expensive because this shit is cheap as hell in slovak.

see i hate regular bud, but bud light is pretty good for those nights when you are playing poker or whatever and need to keep a little more focused (as in it is 4%) definitely better then sleeman's clear and coor's light...
