VIENNA, Va. -- David Kellermann, acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, apparently committed suicide in his Hunter Mill Estates home Wednesday morning. He hanged himself.

Nasty. Why did he want his family to see that?

Sad that someone can be so screwed up that have no perspective on life and choose that death is the only solution.

Chances are this guy had a few million in the bank, a nice home and a few nice cars.

Worst case scenario. You sell everything you own. Buy a house in Costa Rica near the beach and do nothing for a few years but learn to surf and get a tan.

Unless there was a lot more going on behind the scenes that we don't know. If jail time was imminent, there's no Costa Rica option. There is probably an underlying story here, which isn't pretty.

X2...if you read the story, the gov't was looking into accounting violations...if he hanged himself, he was probably skimming BIG TIME. Imo.

If he still had a lot of $, his death basically protects his family, since he can't be charged/indicted, or convicted in his death. And if he's not convicted, it makes it that much harder for anyone to sue his estate. Same thing happened to Kenneth Lay (Enron), his family is in pretty good shape because of his death.
