do SR20, CA18 etc. why would you want a rotary in there? Good luck in finding a 240 with no engine
anything can fit in there with the right amount of pocket change.
RB26's for example.... :P
the 13Bs are done a lot in JPN, but you're just asking for a lot of cash to be put down.
save the money and do the SR or CA or even t/c the KA
the SR20 and ca18 what kinda of cars are those from, and how much am i looking at paying for parts to get them running?
You're going to find an SR20DET in a japanese silvia or 180sx from 1989 onward (in various forms)..Originally posted by cookbob

I am not sure of this, but i think you can find the CA18DET in nissan's S12 cars.
You can get into an engine swap for around 4k if you buy from the right places. Do some searches here:
www.240sxforums.com
www.zilvia.net
www.freshalloy.com
And make sure you search before asking, some of the guys on those boards are a buncha arseholes..
Bought not built!
I think the S12 engine is a CA18ET.....Originally posted by hampstor

You could go the other way too! From FrashAlloy, SR-powered FD:
The timeslip:
60' 1.675
330' 4.613
1/8th 6.976
mph 102.49
1000 9.001
1/4 10.71
mph 134.46
i think if you're asking questions like this you should seriously reconsider the idea of getting a 240 in the first place.Originally posted by cookbob

I'm up for putting a rotary in just about anything, but it would be alot of work in this particular case.

SR20DET is a sweet swap, loads of fun and no one sees it coming.
i dunno anymore.... back in my high school days no one would expect it coming... but now i pretty much expect anyone with a 240 to have one :P
lol.
CA18... now THOSE i don't expect at all.
ca18's are definitely not as popular as the sr20's. Though they have less horsepower to start with. Still i would love to see a fully tuned ca18et, t'would be toight.
why in the world would u want to see a tuned ca18Et?
i hope you mean ca18Det
and it's not all about hp.
in the overseas silvia market many ppl see the advantages of the CA18 over the SR20 and I've read about many ppl managing to put out more power with few basic mods like switching to the T28 turbo from the S14 SR20.
the stock engine can be cranked up to 17psi with a bigger intercooler (iirc)...
you should look around the Australian forums and find the one guy who only tunes CA18s... made some mad power with his CA18
plus they have a higher redline 9000RPM!!! lol
Don't worry greg you will see one in the spring!!!ca18's are definitely not as popular as the sr20's. Though they have less horsepower to start with. Still i would love to see a fully tuned ca18et, t'would be toight.
HAHAHAHA
You can get well over 200hp at the wheels out of a ca18et with very minimal mods.

the only problem with a CA18 is they are higher mileage for the most part. It all depends on your budget, check out www.heavythrottle.com they seem to be a pretty reputable JDM engine dealer.
CA18DET is an iron block i believe, so it can handle the extra boost better than the SR20... the SR20 is a better engine though overall in my opinion, but doing up a CA18DET could be tons of fun...
just turbo a KA... be the odd man on the block!
I found a video on KaZaa. It was a AE86 corolla, with a turbocharged 3rotor engine. they did a rolling start, I could definately say, I have Never seen a car pull away that quick in my life. It was bumper to bumper with the camera car, then it fucked off in 3 seconds, you coulden't see it anymore.
definitaly lots more work to put a rotary in. Have to agree that going with the SR20DET would be the cheapest and easiest swap.
