Deans list

I made the deans list in the first semester (fall) of last year. Would I still be eligible for some form of scholarship? Someone told me when they were on the deans list they just got $1000 cheques in the mail so I didn't bother to send for scholarships. Now I realized that that person is just talking shit and is totally full of shit. Anyone know?

You can get scholarship without applying for it but most of them require application. Just check with the office to see if you are eligible to any.

The $1000 cheques could be for the Jason Lang scholarship. All you need is a 3.20 to get it.

It's for a full-course load for a year tho (so not just one semester).

Hey, so im gonna have a 3.5 gpa this year (2nd year). How do i know what scholarships are available to me? Is there someone I can talk to at U of C about Jason Lang scholarship and other types that i might be eligible?

Also for the Deans list, do you apply for it, or do they automatically put you on it? How is calculated, is it a full load and a gpa or 3.6 or is it 9 courses only with a gpa of 3.6?

If someone could clarify some of the above questions for me it would be great !

I know Jason Lang is automatic, U of C sends the record of everyone they have for the year with over 3.2+ GPA to the government - and you get your check about 6 months later.

they will send you and email/cheque of you get awards. There really isn't anyway to know if you won one until you get it.

You don't have to apply for Dean's list.

All you have to do is go to STUDENT CENTRE on your ucalgary account and there will be a link for APPLY FOR AWARDS. It will give you a generic application form that will send to all the scholarships availible.

im an mrc student. maybe its different at the U but they wont let me apply for any awards on my student centre, they're saying that the deadline is already passed. I cant help but think its kind of bs considering i made the deans lists both semesters and will not get any money out of it. sometimes in school the schoolwork + working is so hectic you just dont have time to fuck around applying for all the scholarships or w/e

I only did good for the winter term this year
