    Angry Car Insurance

ok well heres the deal... i just got my license, and i already did drivers ed, so i called up my parents car insurance people (TD) to get a quote... and they just destroyed all my hopes ... To be put down as an occasional driver on my car, they said i have to pay almost 300 dollars a month... this i tthink is absolute bull... so ive been looking into other Insurers... any ideas???

I have a 2009 Corolla CE, My dad's name is going to be primary driver but its just for me

I wouldn't mind being paid an extra $300 a month. I don't see what the problem is here...

I have found TD insurance to be the most expensive option ever, this even after they contact you like crazy with "discounts" related to your alma mater. What they quote me is double that of what I currently pay. I have my insurance through insurance company that offers rates to those of us employed by my work place, and even without this, TD would've been the more expensive option.

Such is life as a new driver, especially on a new car.
I was paying $250 without collision... no doubt your $300 is also including collision since it's a 2009.

Is the car registered under your name or your dads. It also depends on how many drivers live in the household and how many cars there are. Even though you call yourself occasional, that may not classify you as one (2 cars for 2 drivers).

AT $300 a month I'm guessing that they have listed you as the primary driver anyway. If it is your car then that is the rate you should be paying. There is a reason why new drivers pay the rates they do. If you can't afford the insurance you should never have bought the car.

I've found TD to be the cheapest so far when looking for online quotes. :S.

i'd have to agree, i started out in a car 2 years older than me. and it cost me 250 per month. i waited almost 10 years to get a brand new car. now i have 2. my advice sell it, get your accidents outta the way and then get your new car.

It's a new car and your a new driver. Those two are basically the main factors for having high insurance. The older you are and older your car is, the lower your insurance.

Also TD isn't the cheapest so I suggest looking elsewhere and you might save a bit.
