Anybody know of a good deck building company? Looking for just a basic deck, nothing too fancy.

Head down to Home Depot and pick up some lumber & fasteners and do it yourself... saves you a ton of money and they really aren't that hard to build. Straight forward stuff.
Took a look at their site - wow...do they ever do some nice work.Originally posted by ZorroAMG

How can google tell you what a good company is? I think the OP was looking for advice on good deck building companies, not a list of deck building companies. Maybe you are just trying to increase your post countOriginally posted by leftwing

Since there are a lot of framers not doing much and are used to making $20 an hour or so, you can get the lumber and have someone build it for $300 bucks or so depending on the size of the deck.
It will take half a day to put up a 10 x 10 deck and the lumber will cost less than $600 for that size. Under a grand for a deck. Most companies will hose you if they have to do everything. Markup the lumber, higher cost for pretty much everything.
Marking up prices isn't hosing someone you moron. Every company has overhead, especially larger ones.Originally posted by 2.0turbo

If you sold a product for what it cost to get you wouldn't be much of a business man.
No need to be so rude.
I'm just saying that its cheaper to get the wood and find someone to build it. Its your prime time, shouldn't you be out building a deck or something?
I know these guys do nice work at a reasonable price.

Ya, it's easy to put up a deck, rent an auger for half a day, make some holes, fire in some 5x5 posts, supports, planks, paint, done. Get some pressure treated wood and dip the ends of the 5x5 in a 30 gallon bucket of tar to seal it from moisture. Just don't use concrete to set them, it'll collect water that will rot your posts.

Jesus man, I know you like Transformers, but you need to get out more. No one should get this upset over a movie based on children's toys.
