McLaren F1 Engine Fire

It happened yesterday, when the owner took it out after six months of storage and an onlooker alerted the owner to smoke coming from the engine bay. The fire spread quickly and consumed the carbon fiber body work and 6.0 liter BMW V12 with horrifying efficiency. The car was a total loss, valued at $2 million and insured for $3 million, but the financial implications are nothing compared to losing one of these rare gems.

For some odd reason, I thought it was a Formula 1 car engine fire.

And I dont think he will get 3 mil, he will get what ever the insurance appraises the value of his car. 3 Mil is the maximum coverage he has.

i saw one once, in BC an old guy was driving it and he had his old wife beside him, i was standing like a foot away and it drove beside me lol i even had the chance to take a look inside, but didnt know what the car was untell i saw its back lights im like ahh, i wanted to go back and see it but the lights turned green and it was too late to go run after it lol

That's a shame. Only 100 built, and makes the Enzo a dime a dozen.

Only a handful made it stateside due to the strict importing standards.

Actually, a McLaren F1 recently traded hands at $4m usd, so I'm sure the appraisal value's been upped quite a bit.

Are you sure you saw the same car? Unless his old wife was standing outside the car, she wasn't beside him, the driver sits solo and in the center in the front...

Actually the driver seat is between 2 side passenger seats.

You still wouldn't be able to see the wife, because the passenger seats are recessed back a bit.

I've only seen McL F1's in Montreal. Never out west. Never heard of 1 out west, just tons of rumors of someone owning one in Calgary or something.

The passenger seats are not as far back as I remembered, guess I should have researched a little more (or even googled for 30 secs ). In all fairness, it seems possible the old wife could have been seen if viewed from the right angle. My bad FullMetal.
