How could such an important security agency continually have so many employees with either sketchy pasts or sub-optimal psychological profiles. If you think of all the weaknesses that get exploited over the seasons. Director with druggy sister, woman/mother with dependants in need hence susceptible to bribe, traitors to various degrees, etc.

So this season here we have Starbuck chick who is obviously living under a falsified identity, and has some dark past with a convicted criminal.

How thorough are their background checks?

lol no kidding eh, that's probably the ONLY thing that pisses me off about this show. Everything else is entertaining. CTU bull shit is just frustrating.

Agreed...but I guess some of them have to be to get the plot in place. The stuff with Hassan and his wife was just annoying and dragged out much more than it needed to be.
