    Default Neglected Dog

Sold my place in December, will not be in my new place until mid july so I've been staying with a friend.

In the last 6 months I have witnessed the neighbour abuse/neglect his dogs non stop. I would get woken up every single day during the winter around 5 am to the dogs yelping and freezing outside (no insulated dog house). Now that it's summer and the rains have started the dogs are getting locked in a kennel outside (covered in holes) and getting soaked. The dogs don't even get let out of the kennel and at this point they've spent atleast a week in there without being released.

I have tried calling calgary by-law and the humane society a number of times and nothing has happened yet. I would go release the dogs myself into the streets and hope they get picked up but one of them is a rotti/pitbull cross that will attack anything that goes near it (I own a pitbull and a bull terrier and am still to scared to go near that thing).

    What do you guys suggest?

Talking to the guy does nothing at all, he's just a retarded hill billy that won't listen to logic.

Sad situation. Why bother owning a pet if you aren't even willing to spend any amount of time looking after it?

What do you mean "nothing has happened"?

What did all the places you called tell you?

They keep saying they'll stop by. But I havent seen anything come of it yet. I actually just spoke with the other neighbours and they called all four number provided. Apparently this house has gotten over 30 complaints from other neighbours.

Keep calling every day-tell them you are going to call every day until they let you know someone has investigated-its the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. I know it shouldn't have to be this way but it does work. Sadly the dogs cannot ask for help themselves so you will have to do it for them.

Perhaps they have investigated and found them to be in no harm and/or not being neglected (I hope this is not the case)? Sounds strange that after that many concerned telephone calls and complaints that nothing has been done thus far. I think to have something done asap you must keep on them as bignerd suggested. Maybe take some photos and get statements from the other neighbors and hand deliver the photos and statements to the Humane Society? This method may bring more attention rather than just telephone calls.

I hate people like this, why have a pet if all your going to do is neglect it or abuse it.
I got rid of my dog because i hated not being able to spend enough time with him.
He went to a good home, a farm actually. I say phone every single day, and if nothing happens,
    PLANT SOME EVIDENCE MAN,
Anything to get the in trouble.
Get some crack, place it in their mailbox?
    I duno haha

Don't give up and keep us updated, I wonder if we could get a large number of beyond members to continually call about him.

weird.. all I need on one neighbor bitchin about my dog whining, and I'll get like 3 of those bylaw officers prowling my neighborhood.

Maybe the quickness of the response depends on the area of the city you live in. I'm out in the country hills area.

Where as in forest lawn you see dogs howling all night and nothing happens.

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Not really on topic but I saw a nice cat in my back yard yesterday, all I could see was its head. Then the cat walked further into the yard so I could see it...

Someone shaved it, except the head, boots, and a little tuft at the end of the tail. Admittedly, I laughed, it's the most fucked up thing I've ever seen, but I can't imagine who would do that. I don't know what's wrong with people.

Seriously, toss up some details and I'm sure there will be an extra 1000 calls per day about this situation to those 4 numbers.
