Official Megathread: Megathreads are annoying discussion

I don't know if it's just me, but the megathreads are basically providing an excuse for people to be smart asses. Sure, if I wanted to comment on the latest MMA or Flames story, I could post it in the related megathread, but it will more than likely get lost in the 160+ pages in the MMA thread or the 8+ pages in the Flames thread.

I understand if moderators don't want repetitive threads, but I don't see much harm in closing the newer thread in favor of the thread that was started first.

All I'm saying is that reading a megathread is like reading a book that is one gigantic chapter where one paragraph could be completely unrelated to the previous paragraph.

who gives a fuck if its related or not, lost in the large ammount of pages, or giving people the opportunity to be asswhipes. i personally like the megathreads, everyone is free to comment inside so that 50000+ threads don't show up daily about the latest trade acquisition/big fight.

And to be quite honest the stupid comments that get made in the megathreads can happen anywhere else on this forum and do on a daily basis. thats the OP's problem... not the threads.

Then what's the point of creating a new thread at all? Instead of a new thread popping up every week about the newest movie, let's create a New Movie megathread.

And like I said earlier, redundant threads can be deleted as they often are anyways.

I never read megathreads. As soon as I see 'megathread' in the title, I consider it a warning.
