    Default the hype behind bing.com?

Bing.com is microsofts new search engine... or "decision engine" as their marketing people have... marketed it. It seems to be a rebadged Microsoft Live Search, with little to no new features.

The single useful feature I have found is the ability to type in a flight number, and find out the status of that flight. But realistically - nobody is going to go to a search engine to see if a flight is on time... they are going to go to the airlines website.

Here is the same search string entered in both Google and Bing:

Both search engines return 10 results per page. Bing generated 8,450,000 search results. Google generated 977,000 search results.

Other than being 10x less accurate, the only real difference I see is that the bing.com results have more intrusive text ads at the top of their page.

If you search videos, they play automatically when you mouse over them. Apparently you can watch "censored content" through web filters...give it a try at work.

Actually for a lot of technical searches I am having better luck with bing than with google. I find google is overly populated with a lot of page rank spam when searching for certain things...

Give the blind test a couple whirls... http://blindsearch.fejus.com

I found myself picking bing a fair bit :S

I find mySelf using bing quite a bit more often.
I find the first few pages of hit more relevent than google. It could be because the search results were based on relevence as oppose to popularity.

Windows live map was also better. You could get a closer zoom than google map. But since google just updated Calgary it has the advantage of being more current. The zoom on google still sucks though.

    I would definity recommend it.
