    Default Winter Roads

Is it just me or this year's edition of winter much more difficult to deal with? I know it's just the beginning but is it because there are no sanding trucks in sight? Or is it because it rained before it snowed? Or is it because of all the bumps on the roads? Or am I just crazy?

I think its cause of the slushy heavy snow mixed with rain during just freezing temps, like 0, then freezing at -10 or so making roads very bumpy and icey

    Everytime I hit a bump, I think I'm gonna go sideways.....lol
I don't care about the snow, it's the ice that I can't deal with!!!

Would studded tires bite through the ice better???

I can't wait for the chinook to roll into town

    Ya Sammy,

The fact that they haven't done hardly any road sanding and how on the first night, the blowing snow was just melting as it hit the pavement. Then freezing overnight to create a nice little skating rink w/ packed wet snow overtop. Makes for interesting driving.

Sucked having to shovel nearly a ft deep of snow at 9 AM the next morning. Did get some amusement from people attempting to navigate through the skating rink err playground zone I live in.

I just got home. The roads are BUMPY as hell. Felt like my whole car was about to fall apart, and my back hurts now!

I still haven't seen any city trucks on the streets. But I did see someone plow the backroads out in Bearspaw. Also went through Hamptons, and one side of Hamptons drive is not drivable. There's like 2ft of snow and no one's done anything about.

    Lazy ass city workers.

Arbour Lake is pretty messed. I live on the top of a hill, and it's pure ice going up... makes it tough.

At the bottom of the hill, there's a road beside a field, and it's turned into 1 very narrow and bumpy lane, cuz the entire road turned into a snow drift.

Even buses are running late... I see kids waiting 1hour+ by the stop.

Roads are shit....the Civic has been sitting under a pile of snow since it all started. Been driving my pop's van for the last two days.

Don't see the buses going up Hawkwood Blvd as much lately...makes sense...it's sheer ice.

Supposed to be warmer on the weekend so hopefully it all goes away.

Where is the city with all of this happening though??

It's not like we haven't had a large dump of snow before... they're claiming that "all available crews are working" but I have yet to see shit on the roads, and I drive around the city all day.

McKnight on Wed night was BRUTAL, esp. near McCall way and even up near Barlow... should've just parked the car, strapped on some skates and would have made it to my destination quicker!

Nice to see our tax dollars at work!!

Yeah, the roads are very bumpy right now... even on parts of deerfoot, there are bumps if ice! And when you're deerfoot speed over the bumps, it's pretty scary.

All the snowplows are on what the city calls priority 1 roads, until those are dealt with they wont hit other roads. These include, Country Hills Blvd., Anderson Road, Macleod Trail, and roads in the Central business district.

You can read more about it here:
