Stolen custom license plates

My girlfriend had her custom license plates stolen. I'm just waitin for my eye exam and before I go calling police and visiting the registry, what is the plan of action?

This is so stupid. What good is a custom plate to someoneelse? Has this happened to anyone? Comments and thoughts please

Ya it's happened to me before I didn't bother reporting it since I hadn't even registered it yet, I just ordered a new one, cost was around $50, so lame I know sorry to hear.

That sucks.

The first thing your girl has to do is report it stolen and get the case number from the police.

From there, she has two choices. And, right off the bat, I will apologize because the choices suck.

1. Every personalized licence plate comes with two plates in the package. She should have that second plate kicking around somewhere. She *could* go into the registry, give the clerk the police report number and ask that the registry, re-registers the other plate that she has to her car again. The clerk will record the case number and give your girl new stickers for that second personalized plate. Now..... if you go this route, be prepared to get pulled over ALL THE TIME. Because your girl is driving a car that has a plate on it that has been stolen. You will have to explain the entire story each time you are pulled over. I strongly urge you to not go with this choice.

2. Send your girl to the registry with the case number and have her get a normal plate. Tell her to get rid of the old personalized plate or put it somewhere safe if it is that sentimental to her. If she wants another personalized plate, she can go to the registry and pay again ($220ish).

Also, dannie thanks for the help, that's exactly right. We're going with option one and keeping the police report in the car. This is so stupid. I also need to thread lock that Biatch!

So to make her happy, just drilled out the 5mm stock license plastic plate nuts, and installed 1/4" metal nuts and bolts and red threadlocked it. And drilled in 2 bottom bolts and whatnot. (stock only has top two)

When was it stolen? I saw this plate 1 or 2 days ago driving north bound on 14st NW. I can't remember the car it was on but I remember chuckling at the plate...
