Well, I guess Premier Ralph put a freeze on Car Insurance Premiums. So, what exactly are the details? How does this benefit me when I've already paid my high premiums in August? I always miss out.

Yah from what I heard on the news the freeze on insurance premiums is in effect for 18 months. This is good cause I've gotten two tickets for speeding in the last two months after I renewed my insurance in July.
Comes up again in January so it'll be nice to see my insurance not go over $2G's/6 months.
I heard that they want to reduce premiums to the level which they were at 2 years ago? That'd be nice...
We'll have to wait and see how this all turns out. But I pay a whack of cash to insure my vehicles and that's with clean records...scary!
sorry to inform you people, but based on the information I gathered from CFCN news, this freeze does NOT freeze premium increases based on demerits. its only freesing premium increases on drivers without infractions that year.

Rates won't go up just because of external factors such as economy or world disasters, etc.... but they will still go up if you make claims or accumulate demerits.
I think the biggest external factor is the stock market. Insurance companies toss all their money in and guess who foots the bill when they make shitty investments...us drivers.
but will they go down if you continue to make no claims and no tickets?Originally posted by Davan

Sumamabitch! I'm getting old!
The insurance freeze will not apply to drivers who have demerits on their record, or those who have been in any at-fault accidents. Basically its just to ensure insurance companies do not raise premiums for no reason or for "9/11" reasons.
