Default Laser Jammers (Great deal on Blinder M27)

Original link edited out since it's gone dead
    New Link: http://www.countermeasuresdirect.com/blinderextreme.php
Contact Micah through Countermeasures Direct and ask about the misprinted box pre-order discount.

Just ordered one of these thanks to my 3rd Lidar ticket this year (My Beltronics RX65 Pro has been doing a superb job keeping me aware of radar presence). Definitely a GREAT deal, since he's selling the M27 (unreleased) for the same price as other retailers are clearing out old M25 stock. When I spoke to him on the phone yesterday 80-90% of these 'misprint' units were spoken for.

Anybody else running laser jammer in Calgary?

Ive never seen a legally sold radar jammer, that actually comes close to working.

    Link fix?

I've been waiting to buy the M27. Any news on when the new Blinder units are actually released?

They're not "jammers", they're "diffusers." The former is active interception, while the latter is passive. It's a fairly important distinction

Also, you can't passively block radar, so no legal products exist to do so.

I have to reinstall the Blinder in my M, might take some time this weekend and do just that. I have the original M20. Seems to outperform the outgoing M25.

Correct... there are active radar jammers available (Scorpion jammer), however they're a) huge, b) very expensive, and c) illegal to the point of federal ass-rape if you get caught with one.

Detectors are legal in all states except Virginia and the District of Columbia. They're legal in the following Canadian provinces as well: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan. On US military bases, they are legal to have but illegal to use.

Because of the increase in Lidar use by Calgary Police Service I'm also going to be applying a few coats of Veil to my headlights, foglights, and front badge.

TravisJ: I have been informed that my order is getting shipped Monday by Micah. Countermeasures Direct has been shipping these 'pre production' units out as they have been receiving them.

7thgenvic: This is a laser jammer/laser detector only. This does not jam nor detect Radar

B4tMan: Both laser/radar detectors and laser jammers are legal to own and operate in Alberta and BC.

So what's the concensus? Do these work?
As far as I know CPS only use Lidar now but RCMP still have radar in their cars. Just trying to decide if they're worth it.

I used to run a detector all the time but have gone without for 5+ years.

I've got one in my ride, and I can't live without it. Radar detection and Laser shifters... Works awsome, it's more then paid for itself! I've got the Beltronics RX75PRO and will be upgrading to the Escort 9500ci...

i have my radar detector, but I only use it on the highways as i rarely speed in town.

I am still unsure of the legality of these "jammers" tho.

Laser jammers are generally legal in the sense that the "light" band of the EM spectrum isn't regulated by Industry Canada (or the FCC) so they can't nail your ass to the wall for "intentionally interfering" with LIGHT, but they certainly could if you started messing with the RF bands.

The police could attempt to charge you with "interfering with police business" or some such bullshit, but I've never heard of it happening. Lots of info on the interwebs, google it up...

CPS uses the STALKER brand of laser guns iirc, which testing shows are best detected by the Valentine One...

Well my Jammer arrived and I started install last night.
I'm taking my time with the grille so there is no excess space around the holes, I'm looking for an invisible install. I also got a can of Laser Veil, the laser absorbent paint you use to cover up headlights/chrome.

Will have pics tonight when (hopefully) install is complete.

The CPS, like many other detachments, use a combination of radar/lidar.

Radar is generally dash mounted in the PC, used for rolling (on the move) speed enforcement. Its not as precise as Lidar in that it only shows you a number on the reader, not the exact spot your aiming at. Strongest returns arrive first (eg Big truck).

Keep in mind that if youre driving like a D-bag, a member can issue you a ticket just by observing you (even if he cant get a reading)

eg. If youre seen passing other vehicles who are going 65 in a 50 zone, and although you have a lidar jammer, youre still at a risk for a traffic ticket.

The dash-mounted radar used by the RCMP and CPS has various modes, including a "fastest signal" mode that can clock a squid pulling past a semi*. DSP's in radar (and detectors) have come a really long way. The nice thing is any half-decent detector will spot this radar from 1km+ on a flat-ish highway, long before the cop can lock and confirm. Unless of course they have it on "hold" and throw it on once they already suspect you visually... Then you only have ~200ms to adjust your speed

    * I can't remember the model# or source where I read this, but this page has a similar system (first one) with strongest/fastest lock display.
