    Default Recycling an engine block?

I have a busted up long block that would be a pain in the ass to part out and there are no complete pieces.

    i.e. 2 of 16 valves are smashed.
i.e. 1 piston is in pieces.

Where do I go to drop it off? It is an aluminium block and head.

    Thanks

Dammit, if I was nearby I'd take it off your hands! Dead aluminum blocks are freaking hard to find it seems.

Turn it into one of these!

You'll be surprised what it might be worth. I brought an old copper radiator and old alternator and got around 50 bucks just for that. If you're going to put in the time to pack all that shit up in a vehicle you might as well get some money back for it.

Aluminum is currently worth around 80 cents USD per pound for scrap value according to current market prices...I'm assuming recyclers give you a discounted value off of that but might be worth your time to take it to a recyclers?

thats not bad, ive got a copper integra rad and a dseries engine i might take in

as long as the engine's clear of fluids, they'll take it.

I made a boxer 4 (VW engine) into an end table back in high school. You just tip it up on its end, round glass on top. You can put wine bottles int he cylinder holes

    Navajo Recyclers.

They've got some retarded rules about bringing in recycling though, be sure to wear steel toes, long sleeve shirt, no shorts, hardhat and reflective vest. Otherwise they turn you away at the gate.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

This. It is simply the easiest way to get rid of an engine. Just drop it off and walk away. They even have outside hoists to lift the engine out of the back of a truck and set it down onto a cart.
