Are they tape weights? I think i should go check mine right now then, seems like my wheel has become unbalanced but i never thought of that

i didnt notice any tape, just a funky hook. i tried putting it back on, but no luck.
any ideas how much it costs for balancing? cant be more than 10-15 bucks for the 4 wheels right?
I think walmart does 4 for 15 bux. How would those hook weights fall off man? i tried taking one of those off a spare rim its not too easyOriginally posted by GTS Jeff

If it's not done right, they will fall off. Tape on ones need a clean surface area, and hook on ones, well, they gotta hook on right .

actually, does anyone know if there is a difference with mounting the wheel weights inside the rim instead of outside? id rather not have ugly wheel weights exposed

I think it just looks better, mine are mounted inside the rim. I think theyre a bit more to do though. Maybe 2 bux each

They have new wheel balancing weights that they've been using in semi trailers and commercial vehicles for years. They're small sandlike beads that you put inside your tire and as they spin around when you drive, they balance out the wheels.
Anand at my tires asked me if I wanted them for an extra cost (I forget how much exactly), but I was afraid it would scratch up the inside of my rims.
ya, you can get them to only put weights on the back of the rim, or wieghts on the back and tape weights on the inside. There is no real problem with the tape ones, but if you only get weights put on the back then it is harder to accurately balance the rim.Originally posted by GTS Jeff

If you have aluminum rims, you should probably get the tape on weights on the inside. There are also different hook weights for aluminum verus steel wheels.
The tire is balanced differently if the weight is to be placed inside (most newer machines allow this at the push of a button.
